Am i crazy to think that Lithgow’s Churchill in The Crown was just as good if not better than Oldman’s in Darkest Hour?

I like Lithgow's Churchill and it was my favorite until I saw Oldman's

Watching the Crown it was clear that it was John Lithgow playing Churchill

Watching The Darkest Hour, I didn't see Gary Oldman once, I only saw Churchill

ETA:

At one point I was thinking: "How lucky am I to watch live footage of Winston Churchill neutering Stannis Baratheon?"

Both great performances but Oldman was other world. It was one of the best performances I have seen in a VERY Long time.

Brendan Gleason's Winston Churchill was light years better than Lithgow's. Haven't seen Oldman yet, but Gleason's will be tough to top for me

Lithgow in the scenes where he interacts with the portrait artist is some damn fine acting. I haven’t seen The Darkest Hours yet

Don't forget Thomas Jefferson. Churchill neutered all sorts of important people.

This ... because Oldman is one of the greatest performers of all time.

He has not gotten the credit he deserves because he is a Conservative British fellow.

Hate them Conservative British Fellows. If you use the wrong spoon at high tea, they will harrumph at you in a vaguely disapproving manner.

But rather than jumping straight to politics -- I really like Oldman but I (and, I suspect, 98% of the population) have literally no idea what his politics are, nor do I care -- we might want to step back a bit and observe that he's actually a pretty widely-acclaimed actor whose name the average citizen recognizes. He's not exactly laboring in obscurity.

Also, and as much as I do like him, he can be pretty damned hammy on occasion, eating scenery like it's a chorus girl's honey-flavored pussy. It's a risk great actors take, and even the best of them will fall into that trap. Oldman sometimes goes absolutely all-out in that regard. It's his particular flaw.
