I dvred it and the cable guide gave it 4 stars...impressive, considering they don't even give that to No Country for Old Men.
Thoughts?

I knew you were still alive, Gene Siskel. Care to elaborate on your thumbs down?

how anyone could claim Children of Men "sucked" is mindboggling.

Baloo and I agree far too often, it's kind of crazy. It is probably the best science fiction film of the last 15 years or so.
We'll see how it does on the big list next week when voting starts.

Amazing movie. The movie looks gorgeous and the long takes during the action scenes are mindblowing.

that one scene in the car with the angry mob was pretty scary/realistic.

The cinematography in this film is some of the best you will find.
At one point, there is a 5 minute straight shot with no editing. Extremely impressive--especially considering the scene it is done during the movie.

Is it the stretch when he's running through a bus (I think) and someone gets shot and the blood flies up on the camera lens - and they keep going?

Yeah it is in that whole sequence of events.
I actually watched it really closely with a friend of mine that's really into cinematography and we had to be looking for the cut to be able to find it. If you look close, you'll notice one second the screen has blood on the lens and the next second it doesn't--otherwise, it is pretty flawless.
It is amazing because the whole time they are running down the stairs, running through the city avoiding gun fire, etc. is all on one long-take--a 5 minute long, long-take! They probably couldn't have picked a more difficult series of events to film that way.
I can't imagine what the set looked like--probably had markings everywhere so they knew where the camera needed to be at all times.
