The first fictional character that I've actually grown to hate and know it will have an effect on his future performances is Shane. Before TWD I've never really hated an actor in one performance enough to hate them forever.
I think it's also partly because I knew a guy that looks a lot like John Bernthal and he was a major dickbag.

Patrick Muldoon, the guy who stole Kelly from Zack. Bruce Dern is 2nd, he killed John Wayne.

keanu reeves in bill and ted's because that's all he'll ever be in every movie i watch.
many of the actors on this list just play assholes very well and that doesn't make the actor less appealing it makes them more appealing (to me).
i wanted to punch ratchett/louise fletcher in the face after cuckoo's but it makes me like her as an actress not dislike her.

i just had the same thought also, the guy who robbed Brenda at gunpoint at the Peach Pit. Would have ruined it for me when he and Jessie picketed Bayside's lunchroom styrofoam if that hadn't come first.

It didn't ruin or kill him in my view but I've never looked at Vincent D'Onofrio the same since seeing his as Carl Stargher in "The Cell".

It's hard to get over Billy Zane as the prick from Titanic. I think he's awesome, but I always think of him in Titanic, no matter what.
