You are probably correct.
P.S. I posted that you should be nominated for Roger Ebert droppie award.

I just finished watching the second episode. I guess the only thing surprising about Steven Adler is that he couldn't even last three days between the end of Celebrity Rehab and the start of Sober House before he got back into drugs.
I think Dr. Drew said that they finished filming the graduation episode of Celeb Rehab on a Tuesday, and they moved into the Sober House that Friday. Clearly the mental aspect of Adler's heroin addiction must be stronger than his physical addiction.
Looks like Shifty falls off the wagon next week. Who thought it would be a good idea to go to a nightclub?
It looks like Mary Carey manages to stay sober there, though.

and damn he's looking bad, it looked like he was gonna die tonight on the show.
This sober house shite is retarded, it doesn't appear to be successful for anyone. These people should be with their families with their new found sobriety, not back in the trenches of temptation with other addicts and video cameras. Drew doesn't have their best interest at heart, he just knows this shite will be entertaining for us.

some of them are past the point of needing some royalties, or a career shot in the arm. They are literally on the brink of death. Steven is there, every time he smokes or shoots that shite it's roulette for him, his body just can't handle it anymore. Dr. Drew should have pulled this dude off the show on day 1 and got him in a real treatment center.
Also if this sober house is supposed to help encourage other addicts, it's a FAIL.

I think that is definitely the case for Jeff Conway and Adler. I wouldn't be surprised if either of them die from overdoses or medical complications from years of heavy drug use in the next five years.
Shifty also has a chance to OD. He seems to go on these very serious benders after weeks of sobriety, and based on the trailer for the show, it looks like he has some sort of overdose during the show.
I figure Mary Carey is probably there for the publicity, but am I the only person who thinks that Rodney King, Amber Smith, and the chick from American Idol actually want to get sober?

no they all seem very serious about it and that's why I think they'd be better off at home with their families. This "sober" house just doesn't seem like a great place for someone who doesn't want to fall off the wagon.

Yeah. I mean anytime you do heroin(or the amount of prescription narcotics that Conway is doing) it's like playing roulette, but even more so for him and Steven simply because their bodies have already gone past that initial threshold. They've already had strokes and their hearts just don't beat the same way they used to. It really looked like Steven was gonna convulse and die last night.

plus one Cocks. He should have his license taken away. This is exploitation first and foremost. If someone gets sober, its a side benefit.

what bothers me the most is how hard he pushes this "sober house" at the end of every rehab season, and now to see how these frickers are living, I honestly don't see how they are any better off there than they would be at home.

It seems to me they would have a better chance on their own, since one one falls off the wagon it seems like it can cause a domino effect.

exactly. It seems to me if they were surrounded with the people that really care about them and have to look them in the face everyday, it would make them a little stronger against the temptation. As it stands now, they are watching their peers fall off the wagon and are scheming on ways to do the same thing. It almost looked like a few of them were jealous watching Steven get fricked up.

with the cameras and other people taking drugs it is just like that AI chick said to Dr Drew:
"I left the outside world, where I had things calm and stable, and came into this house, and the house is f*cking things up for me."
But, really, Steven Adler is going to die. No doubt. Very sad.

He should be honest and tell her "look sweetie, relapses are all part of my business model, err...I mean part of the healing process."

Do they not get kicked as soon as they use?
Posted on 1/23/09 at 1:29 pm to TigerMyth36
Dr. Drew was on Howard Stern last week, and said that he doesn't have any say on who is chosen for the show. He also said that there have been instances when if it was normal treatment he would have kicked the person out. Artie Lang was saying some of the same things yall have, that he was in it for the money, didn't care about the people, liked being famous, etc. He said he only gets paid for the shows, doesn't get anything off of dvd's etc, and said that he truly cares to make sure that everyone stays clean and sober. He said he originally started all of his work for free when he was doing his radio shows etc.
As far as these people going home to be around people that care about them...I don't personally buy that. The sober house is supposed to be an in between for them, still treatment, but somewhat on their own. Remember that these family members/friends were there in the beginning when these same people were using, and how did they help?

I think each case is different. I do not think they all come from homes with current users, but I could be wrong on that point.
It just seems to me that in the house they are definitely now around users and users want nothing more than to hang out with and recruit other users. So it seems to me that there will definitely be more pressure once a few dominos drop.
