Well, the announcement was just made, so that's pretty new.

But Snape isn't black. Nor are there Elves, Hobbits or Dwarves of color. It's a absurd decision is why folks are angry.

But of course you already knew that.

Even black people who are fans of Harry Potter are saying this is a dumb decision. It is bc of the complicated character of Snape. The first four books (and films) show that Snape has a disdain for Harry and Harry is suspicious of Snape. Black people are saying now it could be interpreted as Harry and James being racist. Bc Snape was picked on bc of his looks.

The hatred is bc they are changing the race of a character that immensely complicated and has a huge backstory that is relevant to Harry Potter. The change is completely unnecessary. If they had race swapped other characters ( Hagrid, Lupin, Wormtail) it would not be as big. But a character like Snape is now going to change a lot of the perception for other characters and therefore changing the story.

Lots of projection in this thread abt what "mudblood" means in the context of race. Says a lot. Smh.

Same ones up in arms about the author's stance on certain issues?

Those arent fans, they are leftist agitators

Haven't read the Potter books. Is Snape's race important to any dialogue/action that drives any part of the story/arc/etc?

Yes, and changing his race changes the dynamics of his character and his experiences tremendously

Imagine if the M/TV board existed when they announced Will Smith was playing Jim West

Seeing how that movie was a steaming terd, I’m not sure your point is well thought out.

You literally made my point for me and didn't even realize it, so I thank you for that.

If you have to change major elements of the entire series (as you argued in your previous post) just to swap races, maybe don't do it

If you have to "come up with ways to make it work", whats the point? Just cast someone else

I dont know why anyone responds to him. Hes a total extreme left weirdo
