I get mad everytime I watch the end of this. They rescue a guy who has been on an Island 4 years. When they throw the party for him the food they supply is sea food... Really?

that scene was on purpose. It showed how people didn't fully relate to what he had gone through.

yeah and it's funny.
What gets me is he's gone for all those years...they even buried a casket...and his welcome back...we'll help you out, get you back on your feet, rally your friends and family...that lasts about a week...maybe less. Then everyone sort of says, ok...we said Hi...time to go back to being married to someone else.
And that's my favorite part of the movie because that's reality. After a week, no one cares what he went through, they're too busy getting back to their lives...without him.

one of my all time favorite movies...
Ever notice that there is a space btwn Cast Away instead of calling the movie Castaway..
I think they did this to show that all his friends casted him away and thought he was gone...and when he came back he was still in sort of a way gone

I know he's not Mr. Survivalist...but when he thinks he can eat a crab raw...that's sort of silly...okay, you made your point, he's clueless.

I never noticed that. Zemekis's movies always have lots of detail.

That's my least favorite, for the same reason. It reminds me of why humanity is doomed. People whine when you "don't care" about some "worthy cause," but turn around and act like this in the same breath. Pathetic.
But, I suppose that's the lesson. The only one to whom you can truly redeem yourself is yourself.
Him standing alone at the crossroads at the end is the only glimmer of hope.

Insanely well acted by Hanks. Could many actors make you feel the pain of losing Wilson? I think not.
Have you ever felt so distraught over the loss of an inanimate object?

Hurley's mom did the same thing on Lost.

It's also called Cast Away because of solely Hanks being on screen for so much of the movie. The rest of the "cast" was literally "away"

An incredible movie. The plane crash was so intense

Great movie...I always wonder how he ever got on the plane to go back home after being found. Couldn't have been me

The scene when he sets sail on his raft and leaves the island always gets me. When he starts to get farther away from the island and looks back... makes you feel so helpless. Good score too.

Hanks was awesome in this. Really liked the movie but the final scene did make me groan a little with how literal and non-subtle it was.

Great movie. I love his "discovery" of Wilson.
Wilson was his best friend and it was neat to watch him "get to know" Wilson.
I teared up when Wilson floated away. It's the only thing that kept his sanity.
I liked at at the very end he had another Wilson volleyball in the seat of his truck.

Great movie. I regularly think of his line, "I have ice in my glass."
