agree. his character in Casino was spot on. after reading casino and his other book, he really nailed the Ant.

Agreed. And the IRL character he played from Goodfellas was actually like 6'5" 250 lbs., but both were crazy AF IRL.

I don't understand why everyone hates Stone in Casino ... she played the role to the hilt. Besides, she warned Lefty

Why everyone hates the character? Well I think tying the kid to the bed pushed it over the top. A money grubbing, cheating whore is one thing but everyone hates a shitty abusive mother.

But it's why the movie works.

Imagine how flat the movie would be without her.

She is terrible, one of the worst characters in movie history - just the worst.

But she is sort of a metaphor for Vegas as a whole. A liar, a cheater, a scumbag, a whore.

Everyone on here complains about Skylar White but Stone is way worse...and she is so bad she starts carrying the movie and all you care about is her getting her comeuppance.

Remember the scene in Goodfellas with Clapton’s “Sunshine of Your Love” playing at the bar and Deniro is smoking and eyeing the guy he’s gonna have killed? One of the best 40 seconds on film and separates this movie from Casino and about every other film. Sorry no link.

Both are great but Pesci's character in Casino makes it the better movie to me.

One of my favorite movie quotes of all time.

I think it is - by far - Stone's best performance. Apparently consultants for the film included neighbors and, I think, cops, who witnessed the famous meltdown domestic squabble on the front lawn - recall that Pileggi actually pitched the film to Marty by sending him the newspaper clipping about the incident - so that it would be clear it would be a very different movie from Goodfellas. The consensus was that she nailed the real life incident perfectly.

As much as I like Goodfellas, Casino feels more "real" - like this was what really happened, as opposed to Goodfellas which was largely Henry Hill's coke-fueled memories with him puffing himself up a little for good measure (although I think I've made it clear I think it is a superior film, I do not think it outclasses Casino in every way as others do).

Stone does a better job than Bracco, first of all. Don Rickles and Alan King are EXCELLENT in nontraditional roles for them. Vegas is a more appealing setting than NYC for a gangster movie - we've seen all sorts of NY and Chicago gangster movies, Casino captures the allure (and danger) of Vegas better than almost any other film, ever.

If I give Goodfellas an A+, I give Casino an A. Marty is a great, great filmmaker.

I've soured on Goodfellas bc every good ole baw acts like it's as good as Citizen Kane, sort like Scarface back in the day where every a-hole had the poster in their dorm room.

Casino is awesome & the fact those same people tend to poo poo it only makes me like it more.

Hill said in an interview that he thought the movie made him look way better than he actually was.

Irl, the guy knows he is an uneducated piece of shite

The Nevada Gaming Commissioner guy in Casino played by Dick Smothers is supposed to be Harry Reid

Pesci tough had a real knack for playing stone cold killers, The speech to the bank president is a sentiment that I think most could get behind. What he does to that women who defied him and the mob in her house was too much....it was great.

I like the scene tough where he is almost public enemy #1 in Vegas and he and some of the cops are doing Little League

That being said, overall Goodfellas is slightly better mainly because of Liotta

For me it's this scene with Harry Nisson Jump into the fire playing. The paranoia how everything speeds up.

Watched both on Netflix recently.

Goodfellas is the better film but Casino is entertaining as hell. Probably cause the 70/80s Vegas setting gets me. Still probably 30 mins too long though.

Goodfellas is a classic. Better than Godfather imo.
