Another good WWII movie that was also made in 1942 is Mrs. Miniver.

Seconded. Saw it about a month ago, great "homefront" movie.

OP, the Maltese Falcon has to be next. I recommend watching it twice back to back. A lot of the dialog is fast and you’ll miss some things you’ll catch on the rewatch.

diving in tonight on the Falcon

My favorite Bogart movies are:

The Roaring Twenties(James Cagney is the star but it's such a great movie)
High Sierra
The Maltese Falcon
To Have and Have Not
The Big Sleep
The Treasure of the Sierra Madre
Key Largo
In a Lonely Place

I sat down to watch this because of this thread. I've been meaning to watch it for decades.

It was amazing. I was immediately hooked and was gripped the whole time.

I regret I didn't watch it sooner but I think being 40 and watching it provided a lot more personal context with which to frame it and I probably enjoyed it more than I would have.

Went and saw LOA on big screen last year. Was awesome although it kind of drags near the end.
