Can someone who watched The Defenders give me a summary of what happened?

I keep seeing the end leads into the new Daredevil season coming out tomorrow but I can't stand Danny Rand to try and power through that first

Netflix Danny Rand works a lot better as part of a group than he does on Iron Fist.

His best stuff is Defenders and his appearance in Luke Cage Season 2.

Obviously this is spoilery. Sigourney Weaver is the head villain with The Hand. They're trying to dig up bones of dead creatures underneath NYC (the same species of dragon that Iron Fist defeated to get his powers so they have some sort of mystic power or something). The Defenders all come together and decide to go after The Hand. Sigourney Weaver is using Elektra, Dare Devil's ex, to fight them. That's probably about all you need to know to watch the last episode of the Defenders.

Crash course: just watch daredevil and the Punisher. Ignore the rest.

Thank me later.

The way The Defenders ended seems like it might have some impact on how Season 3 of DD starts out. I'm not saying anyone should watch the whole thing because it's easily the worst Netflix MCU show, but watching the last 10 minutes or so probably wouldn't hurt.

Summary: At the end of Daredevil Season 2 Elektra Natchios' body is taken by the Hand to be resurrected as the Black Sky. Alexandra Bont (Sigourney Weaver) is one of the five "Fingers of the Hand" along with Madame Gao, Bakuto and two others. In the final episode of the Defenders, Matt, Jessica and Luke go to the basement of Midland Plaza to fight off the Hand and rescue Danny. Their plan calls for planting explosives in order to cave the building in on itself and fill the giant hole dug in Daredevil Season 2. In Episode 6, Elektra kills Bont and takes over. In the final episode, Colleen Wing decapitates Bakuto, but not before he takes Misty's right arm.

While the Defenders are fighting the hand, Matt keeps Elektra occupied long enough for the rest of the team to escape, telling Danny to protect his city before they leave. The building collapses, burying Matt and Elektra underneath and presumably killing them while the others watch in horror.

While the others are dealing with Matt's death, the ending scene shows a broken and barely alive Matt Murdock on a bed in a convent. As he starts to move, one of the sisters says, "tell Maggie he's awake".

I'm only 2 episodes in. Right now, Sister Maggie, played by Val Kilmer's ex-wife (Sorcia from Willow), is the "alpha nun" (the one the kids at the orphanage are all scared of) and is a verbal and spiritual foil for Matt as he recovers.
