What's not interesting about a kid's whose dad is disinterested in his day-to-day well-being. The same kid is also struggling with the idea of looking up to him as a father, and finding other, but equally problematic, father figures around him. Oh yeah, his mother, is also pregnant, his friends, although responsive, don't seem to be good role models. All wrapped in adolescence and cerebral palsy?

I actually don't see Walt as interesting in the least. His ACTIONS are interesting, but his motivations and character? Certainly not.

And yes Jessie is more complex, but unless he actually turns it around at some point, he'll remain that eternally unlucky character, which also gets boring.

The way you framed that is actually pretty interesting. On another show, FNL or Buffy, Walt, Jr. actually would have been pretty awesome.

I actually kind of agree with this assessment of season 1 and 2 Walter White. I believe he gets much better but I don't want to give anything away.

Aaron Paul is just fabulous. Another thing they figure out in Season 3 is that Aaron Paul is the best actor on the show. He really just does great work.

With as much time as you spend of this board, how have you made it this far without ever watching BB?

See the title of this thread. I have started, and given up, on BB 3 separate times over the past year and a half or so.

Point taken. They don't give him enough to do, but it's a missed opportunity actually.

Good.

That, and with the amount of time spent watching it so far if it doesn't connect then it probably isn't going to.

Honestly, I was completely hooked in episode 1.

BB didnt' become great to me until Season 3. I managed through season 1 & 2. It did just enough to keep me watching.

I watched it from the first day it came out, not on Netflix or DVD, so maybe I have a different perspective. For me, it was so different from anything else on TV at the time that I found myself pretty well hooked from the get go. Don't get me wrong, I can definitely see where you're coming from, but I thought Season 1 and 2 were gold. That said, Season 3 and 4 were even better and the show began to take on a much greater momentum, so I get what you're saying, but I just felt like 1 and 2 did far more than just "enough to keep me watching."

If you don't like S2E2&7 then I would bail. Those two are as good or better than all that come after. Overall, I think BB is one of the best shows to come down the pike in years as far as producing consistently high quality seasons. Every ep might not blow you out of your chair, but some story build up is necessary to get to great scenes. OTOH, it's not for everyone and I have been grinding my teeth waiting for Homeland to crank up this fall.

Season 1 was screwed from the writers strike.

Season 2 was competely written out pre-production and they painted themselves in a corner.

Seasons 3,4,5 learning from their mistakes from Season 2 hit their stride, by evolving and changing the script with new ideas and directions during production.
