I am still trying to get my thick Cro-Magnon skull wrapped around your logic or lack thereof.

It is okay to like Amadeus with historical inaccuracies because of the music.

It is not okay and makes you a bumbling stumbling drooling caveman illiterate if you like Braveheart for the action, costumes, humor and score but with historical inaccuracies.

Nice logic.

At its core Braveheart is a chick flick. The battle scenes are fun to watch but don't fool yourselves, its a chick flick.

From the time the little girl placed the flower in young Wallace's hand it was a love story. The battle scenes were great but the central theme of the movie was love and unrequited love.

Love story =/= chick flick. There are many classic love stories that are far from chick flicks.

Braveheart is definitely not a chick flick.

That's debatable. Never went to see a love story with a group of my guy friends only with chicks.

Like most guys what I took out of Braveheart were the awesome battle scenes and struggle for national freedom. It was my wife who informed we had just watched a chick flick. An opinion backed up y several of her friends.

Regardless, since she qualified it as a chick flick its one less she will subject me to in the future.

MJC is on fire in this thread!!!! The "cameras not in 13th century" line, the "that prescription drugs coming in 2nd behind historically inaccurate movies" line, and then that pic = classic movie board beatdown!!!

You know General Grant, "sooner or later you're going to realize that there are two certainties in life....the first is don't do THAT....."

This thread should be on the OT. It has EVERYTHING necessary for an ot thread.

1. Elitism
2. People feeling the need to tell people how smart they are.
3. Post count attacks
4. Alters

I thought the same thing with Braveheart (minus qualifying it as a chick flick). The thread that ties it together is the love story.

There are plenty of love stories that aren't chick flicks.

A few from various eras that come to mind:

Forrest Gump
Count of Monte Cristo
Slumdog Millionaire
Casablanca
King Kong

Good observation and a good list provided. I may be too quick to a love story an automatic chick flick.

Or the fact the Battle of Stirling Bridge doesn't ahve a bridge in it. It's like having the Normandy Invasion without a beach. That's not just historically inaccurate, that's grossly wrong.
when asked why the battle of stirling bridge wasn't filmed on a bridge, gibson responded that the bridge created too much trouble. an old scottish gentleman listening nearby responded, "that's what the english found out."

Man I thought Dumb and Dumber was the greatest movie of all time...
Right behind Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison, but those movies all really happened fact for fact. Trust me I heard it from a very reliable source.

No, it is not.

Chicks hate blood and guts and war. There are about 30 minutes of it that are chick-flickish, but that's it.

I'm not sure I have seen a chick flick that starts with the chick having her throat cut.

Man, you have a weird definition of chick flick.

You may need to seek out counseling.

Not a chick flick. Obviously there's no official definition, but I think chick flicks are specifically targeted at a female audience. Wedding movies, Ya-Ya sisterhoods, Traveling Pants sisterhoods, etc. Braveheart? Not even close.
