I've said it on here, before, but three words:

Some other:

Autobiography of a Werewolf Hunter
The Monster Hunters could be fun.

And if the Zombie genre wasn't so saturated at the moment. Zombie Chronicles.

This was an extremely poorly written series. Very amateur. I still read it all though.

Eh. Yes and no. The characters were well drawn and his prose improved along the way. There were certainly some exciting and difficult moments, but you're correct, it's no masterpiece.

ETA: All the same, it would make a great show.

Damn. Can't believe I left this out. This is a definite one. It is the stuff of TV shows. Each book is, in essence, a season already wrapped up into a neat little bundle, with a larger arc carrying throughout the story. It is absolutely perfect for a TV treatment. If Lynch can pump out two more in the series in the next three years as he has planned, he'd only have 2 left in the series to finish. At that point, given his track record, I think it would be worth going after with the proper showrunners.

It really is. It would be perfect. Self contained stories, adventure, con men, violence...not overly "fantasy" yet.

The next book is done and should be out in early 2015. The 5th book should definitely be done by the time GOT is off the air.

Anything that is overly "fantasy-esque" won't be done, like Wheel of Time.

Well that's presumptuous and up for debate. I think the show kinda sucks.

I don't even know if HBO would green light the budget to make Mistborn well, but if they did it would be incredible. That story would look insane in film.

I think Mistborn would work better as a movie triology than a TV series. Theres not nearly as much material for a TV series as GoT

Any one of a number of the Bernard Cornwell series would do well. I'm partial to the Saxon Chronicles but the Grail Quest (which is really a look the 100 years war and an English longbowman) or the Warlord Chronicles might do as well.

Another great property that could carry over several seasons would be the Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser stories by Fritz Leiber.

Now, it would play out more like a traditional episodic series, which might be a positive, and casting of the 2 leads would be absolutely critical. If they went a little too campy, it would look more like Xena or Hercules from back in the day, but I believe the subject matter leads it more towards a middle of the road adventure series - some laughs, some loves, and a lot of fools getting sliced up.

I'm interested to see how Stars pulls off American Gods.

This book bored me to tears, does that make me a bad person?

I do think there is a lot in that Universe to explore in a TV show however. This is one that I actually hope strays away from the book storyline a bit

I came here to post Cornwell's Saxon series too. Or his Arthur books which I loved almost as much.

Utred would be so badass with the right casting.

I think they still own the rights to McCullough's Masters of Rome series. I'd love to see a prequel to Rome. The brothers Gracchus, Scipio Africanus, Marius and Sulla, the strange childhood of Julius Caesar . . .

George McDonald Fraser's Flashman could be a great fit for HBO as well.

I was talking about him being forced into the death priest deal. Never heard of him being molested. He was in his twenties when the whole episode with the King of Bythynia came along.

Not sure if this is along the lines that you are thinking, but I saw a thread on here a little while ago that claimed that the idea of a Foundation series was being thought of being developed. I would actually probably prefer a series done on the Robot series beginning with Caves of Steel.

I probably isn't very feasible, but they could all be done together because ultimately they are all on the same timeline and loosely tied together.

I'd like to see a Band of Brothers or Generation Kill type, one season series set in the Civil War. Killer Angels would be a book to use in that vein.
