His name is Big Jim Calismo(sp?) or something like that, he's a Chicago Boss.
Al Capone was a short MF'er!

Boardwalk was good, but it wasn't as good as LOST's premiere.
The first hour of LOST is some of the most intense TV I've ever seen.
And the ending with the French recording was mind blowing.

to me that was one of the best premieres ever. If not one of the most intriguing opening scenes ever...

I had to watch the episode twice. The first time around I was like wtf, there are a lot of damn characters in this pilot. Felt like that fed in the hotel lobby payphone who's jotting down names all confused and shite.

I enjoyed it, but wasn't blown away...
I thought Lost, 24, carnivale were all more interesting pilots.

I'm still trying to figure out what cost $50 million for the first episode. I'm sure scorscese(sp) wasn't cheap but it wasn't over the top IMO. If they are counting building the sets, I can see that costing some cheese, but most of that will be used in every other episode.

Yes, but with all the hype, Scorcese directing and the production money involved it better have been good

Now we need to see how good the regular episodes are going to be.

Which is probably why the budget will be lower for the rest of the episodes

Very good premiere show. I put it up there with the wire.
"So, who shot Snot?"
"If you knew he was going to steal the money, why'd you let him play?" "Got to, it's America man."

I wanna see how good it's going to be without Scorsese directing every episode. I think he's one of the executive producers though.

After seeing all the Lost comments I guess I'm weird. We rented it from Netflix with the idea of watching them all. The wif and I were underwhelmed and I haven't watched another episode of Lost after the first one.
The only series premier that "blew me away" was Breaking Bad.

Yeah, the first few episodes of the first season of Breaking Bad completely blew my mind.

Tim Van Patten (Pacific, Sopranos, Rome, Deadwood, The Wire) is directing tonights and the next one. I'm sure he's up to the task.
