I really liked Callister but the fact that DNA doesn't have your memories really hurt the believability of this one.

This sort of killed it for me.

The best cloning show I have ever seen was about a rich guy that had made clones of himself to use later for body parts as his organs wore out. Each of the clones had his own memories and personality. Most of the clones were raised as simple people. The "factory" that was managing the clones wanted to keep them healthy, but only gave them enough information for them to take care of themselves. One of the clones though was stolen and raised in secret by an attendant. He was taught all sorts of things and had tons of mad skills. When the factory ran out of adult clones to use for surgery, they figured out what had happened to the missing clone, and they went after him. The show is about his struggle to save himself and all of the moral dilemmas that are presented by this type of cloning.

I have looked for this show online, but I can't find it. It was a K Drama from 2000 or so. I don't think much of that stuff from that period of Korean TV is available online.

SPOILERS (the prestige)

wasn't this sort-of the premise of that movie as well?

Sounds a lot like The Island with Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson.

One thing I can't get over on Callister and White Christmas....Who fricking cares if a computer generated version of yourself is trapped in an egg or a computer game?
I think you are missing nearly the entire point of the series, which is intended to be near-future dystopia based on tech we sort-of have now. If you study/think about AI at all, you almost have to come to the conclusion that at some point, AI will be self-aware and/or conscious. At that point, it is capable of suffering. It doesn't matter if it's the version of "yourself" or not - you should care about the needless torture of ANY conscious creature.

I personally find the White Christmas ending to be the most disturbing thing I've ever consumed (to the point that I don't even like to think about it). And I agree with the poster who said that the DJ ending was not all fun and games - it still required the quasi-abuse of thousands/millions of consciousnesses.

You need to get past that "just computer generated version" blindspot you seem to have. At the very least, just take for granted the premise offered by the show on these episodes: the AI is definitely suffering.

eehhh...as the viewer why shoudl I care? Most of the great BM episodes pull you in and have you care about someone or something. This episode didn't, I mean sure I wanted the lady to live or whatever, but I don't know anythign about her so what does it matter? We have essentially zero backstory so we don't feel a connection. Just seemed pointless.

I liked it for some of those reasons.

It was stripped down to basics and we all have a survival instinct. In the future we may hear the other side of her radio, and if we don't I'm ok.

Didn't need a long drawn out plot, just a survival situation.

i watched metalhead twice. it was definitely bleak but enjoyed how realistic the bots were. those general dynamics videos always freaked me out..esp after 'dont be evil' google bought the company. if there's someone who would be 'sending the dogs out' my money is on google. that episode is definitely creepy as frick, esp the multiple ways the AI has to track the 'victims'. a minor plothole - why didnt the dog call for backup after it was initially wounded or when it had her trapped in the tree instead of the end?

Worst Black Mirror episode yet. Just complete garbage. Really enjoyed USS Callister. Definitely my favorite from this season, followed closely by Black Museum.

My entire ranking of season 4:

USS Callister
Black Musuem

Crocodile

Hang the DJ

Arkangel

Metalhead

Just watched Metalhead last night.

Cool concept and I was really intrigued to learn what was in the box and why the world was the way it was. So we learned what was in the box and got insight into who she was getting it for and why, but unless I missed it we never really got an answer for why those dogs existed or why the world was so bleak and everything was dead. Or did I miss that part?

The aspect of explaining to coworkers and the police that you stole someones DNA for a sealed off verision of a video game would be pretty interesting to hear.

The police would also be interested to hear how she got the evidence in the first place.

Bottom line, Robert's body will be found eventually, and the police will find Nannette's prints everywhere since she didn't use gloves. At the very least, she's going down for B&E.

You didn't miss it, but it just wasn't relevant.

So in a world that was so bleak, for whatever reason it was, the point was that 3 people were willing to die to simply help comfort a sick kid?

(I'm not being snarky, it would seriously make some sense to me if that was the point)

Finished the season last week. The three I had left were:

Crocodile. Thought this one was kinda stupid, and I kinda hated it. It is definitely in a lower tier BM for me for sure. I didn't like the ending at all with her just sitting in the gym...I assume the point was that the cops were there to arrest her, and that they had gotten the information from the hamster? I don't know, I just didn't really care for the episode at all. And it was pretty brutal, especially with her killing the baby (though the blindness was a nice touch).

Metalhead. This episode was decent. I didn't really care for it overall, but I still enjoyed it relatively.

That's sort of the feeling I got from it as well. The whole point was that they were on a mission for a teddy bear(s). I didn't get the whole "counting to one thousand and throwing rocks at the robot dog" thing. I may have missed it though...was that something that was mentioned? What made the dog hibernate (or battery die??). I also would've liked to have gotten SOME kind of look into the people (city?) she was talking to, just to get a feel of what life was like there in this dystopia. But all in all, not a bad episode really.

Black Museum. Liked this one a good bit. It was cool to see how they sort of played the same fiddle that White Christmas did, where there are separate stories within this one episode, and then they all sort of come together at the end. I thought the execution (no pun intended) of the episode was pretty solid. And although they really showed their hand at who the girl was a little too much, it was still kinda cool. I didn't really get how the dude's consciousness got transferred into the little keychain though. That was kinda confusing to me. But all in all, I liked this episode and rank it behind Callister as the second best of the season, and would put it in my next-to-top tier of BM episodes.

Pretty much. From what I gathered, the kid is terminally ill. They were willing to risk life and limb to just provide him a modicum of happiness before he died.

It makes the episode much more tragic that they never made it back. It's also great story development, since it illustrates the bond that exists between the people in the compound.

It's definitely very different from the other BM episodes, but I'm curious as to why you hated it so much.

No that was Valdack. We never see Jimmi Simpson's character after he's blasted out of the engine. I assume he truly died when the universe got deleted.

What if the teddy bear had the tech of the monkey in Black Museum and they needed a new bear to upload the boy into it
