Julie explains to US Weekly how Big Brother will again follow its usual approach of sending in Houseguests in groups of four on premiere night and, just like we saw last season, each group will head to the backyard to compete for one winner per cluster. Those four winners, the “captains,” will then face more challenges, including picking teams of four.

To help keep things balanced and hopefully more interesting, the captains will have to keep the team structure set to two men and two women. Assisting in that selection process, the captains will get to watch short clips from each HG describing himself or herself.

Those four captains will then move on to the second part, competing against each other, just those four, to determine which of them will be the first Head of Household for Big Brother 23. That captain’s team of four will have safety for the week. But wait, there’s more.

At that point Julie is planning to drop a surprise offer on that first HOH. She feels it’s going to be so good that “he or she is not going to be able to refuse.” It’ll be a “double or nothing challenge.” Hmm, okay.

I thought CBS has a diversity quota to meet now? Only men and women this season?

Winner gets more than $500k? Or accumulative prizes?

That $500k has really gone down in value since 2000 if we're being honest.

I've been thinking this for a few years.. Not sure if winning it in Cali has any tax implication but if it does you'd clear about 260k... lol

I'm currently thinking that I'm probably going to take a break from BB this year. The past several years (with the exception of BB20) have definitely soured me on BB. It's just too much of an investment because if I do watch it, I have to do the live feeds, and I hate investing so much time into it with how crappy the gameplay has evolved. If they would tweak the rules to give more incentives for the Machiavellian type players I might be interested. But the gameplay as evolved to a point where it is just too frustrating to watch full time. I'll catch tonight's episode to see if they can change my mind, but I don't see it.

I do kind of want to see how the house reacts to the NAACP white country boy farmer. I have a feeling that if he tells them he is a big NAACP supporter, they aren't going to buy it, and will have his butt on the block before the night is over.

Just watch it like a regular show. I'm not going all out with the feeds and all this year either. I'm just gonna try to enjoy it for what it is.
And I have a feeling that the white country baw farmer NAACP member could be Malcom X illegitimate son and it would make no difference..
Like you, I'm gonna give it a try tonight... Hopefully we'll all be surprised.

I love coming read the season long thread every year just to see the comments bitching about how bad the season is.

You don't have to watch.

So the only white guy from the south is dressed like a farmer and a member of the NAACP?

LMAO yea okay CBS. You didn’t do that on purpose or anything like that. Probably a paid actor anyways.

Yep. The show hasn't started and it's constant complaining already. This has become a terrible thread to actually talk about the show. I'll be locked into the feeds like every year, but not much point posting anything here if 95% of the post are people coming to complain.

And then they wonder why nobody is posting in the thread.

I followed the first few post to read up on that info, but when I saw the rest of the pages were filled with bitching and complaining, I just kept checking the first few post for updated info.

Doesn't represent the overall population accurately.

Won't watch.

It only would if the winner is a California resident. I don’t think they put them on the CBS payroll, and their earnings/winnings are paid like they’re independent contractors/self-employed. Still a pretty significant tax hit though.

Well, the last 2 seasons were probably two of the worst seasons in the show’s history, so what do you expect? And season 20 had some of the best discussion I’ve seen on this board. Some of the complaining gets tiresome, but a lot of it has been justified.

Yeah, tbh I wish they’d stop complaining and just stay out.

They’ve been needing to bump up that $500k for years now. Even The Challenge gives away a million and they’re on a smaller cable channel in MTV.

Really wish Big Brother could figure out a way to offer cash rewards to players throughout the season who make big game moves instead of just cruising along in a massive alliance. Financially reward the players week to week who actually play the game right, win competitions, don’t play scared, etc.

It’s gotten really bad over the last few seasons with the top two or three players creating a ten person (or so) alliance, and then everyone just cruising through the season until the final three or four strongest figure it out at the end.

Feel like if they offered weekly, significant financial rewards for game play it would help stop some of the furniture in the house from sitting around all season voting the way top dog #1 or 2 wants them to in hopes of getting selected to go to final night.
