The DR sessions that they show during a competition always bother me a little bit. Obviously the player knows the result but they are “live” updating their thoughts at that point of the competition. It’s obviously fake but they do a decent job of fooling you if you don’t already know the result. They must feed them lines for these and do some retakes.

Yeah that bothers me too. Sometimes things are too produced. Reactions that aren’t authentic just aren’t great.

That and that little fist pump thing she does are the worst. She did it during the first hacker comp and last night when she thought Blockstar had won.
I do kind of feel bad for Blockstar though. That's a brutal way to lose Veto, especially now that she's getting voted out.

speaking of getting fed lines from the DR...it's obvious that they are told certain things to say for little catchphrases or to look good on the show. But aside from somone like cody last year whose "schtick" was the robotic straight man, can you refuse to say what they tell you? I'm a relatively reserved kinda person, and I'd have no problem giving my thoughts in the DR, but there's no way I'd want to say some of the dumbass off the wall shite they would want me to. Can HGs say "that's really not me in any way at all, I don't wanna say that" or do you have to play along?

You play production's game or production plays you. I would imagine they could make your game short and sweet if you don't do what they ask.

They're free to refuse to play along. Most of them are narcissists and know those goofy phrases get aired, so they go along with it. Those who don't, generally have less DR's shown on the broadcast.
