How many 9 year olds can craft of Hearts of Darkness and Werner Herzog joke?

Seriously, that episode of Community was damn near brilliant. If you didn't like it, well, there's always stuff that doesn't require any engagement in the material whatsoever and can play inoffensively in the background....

not mad at all. I have nothing personal against bbt though I said I don't understand it's appeal. You on the other hand seem to have an odd vendetta against Community.

It's ok you don't get it. Most of it goes right over your head. A lot of people hate what they don't understand. It's a perfectly natural reaction. If you enjoy BBT more power to you.

They are two completely different style shows with two completely different styles of humor. Its almost impossible to compare the two except on the basis of I lol'd more during show X.

I thought for sure they would have the Dean pull a gun on someone to keep them on the set to complete the Klaus Kinski joke. Maybe too obscure even for Community.

Also, what makes the show work is that even in an episode as silly as this, there were some incredibly important character beats. Actions always have consequences in Community, they don't reset each episode.

For those that are championing BBT, do you not see how easy the comedy is to predict? Do you not see that it's the same tired old plot lines wrapped in a nerd joke wrapper?

Prediction: as soon as one of the nerds finally gets the blonde to fall for him and they start to date, the show is over. (See Sam and Diane, David Addison and Maddie Hayes, Ross and Rachel)

It's already happened. Leonard and Penny dated for a whole season. So, um, prediction fails.

I like BBT as well. It's not in the class as Community, but not every show has to be groundbreaking. The cast has great chemistry, which goes a long way, and they write decent jokes, albeit contrived situations. It helps that my brother is a lot like Sheldon (aside from the asexual part), and I find myself laughing when he does something that I can imagine my brother doing.

I've tried to get on the Community bandwagon but I just can't. It's god awful. It's so slow and weak.

BBT is my favorite sitcom running today.

FWIW--Parks and Rec blows too.

Shows how much you know dumbass. They already went there and it has killed the show.

It's gone from 4 nerds and the unattainable hot neighbor girl to a nerdy version of Friends. It just isn't the same dynamic anymore. If you think you might like nerdy/geeky humor earlier seasons work better IMO.
