The show has been overly defended because it has been and continues to be overly attacked. I also find it curious how people can be so emotionally invested in a show they don't watch regularly.

as I have stated it's not even in my top 5 comedies on tv right now but you would swear it is my favorite of all time by the way I defend it on here. the ridiculous hatred thrown at it by people who have watched an episode or 2 or those who hate on it because they think they are supposed too because it's not cool to like on here really get annoying. anytime it is mentioned they flock to the thread to inform everyone how awful it and people who watch it are

I can definitely agree with you on this.

As long as Hollywood bashes Christians and ridicules the traditional family and embraces the wicked lives of gays . . . I forgot where I was going with this

The Big Bang is a garbage show though.

I'm guessing that you just don't understand what they are saying or talking about.

If you did, you would realize the genius of the writing.

I knew someone who said that he didn't like "The Sting" because it had no plot.

damnit people like that hurt the cause. just because they are smart doesn't mean that it takes intelligence to like the show. there are almost no jokes that require advanced degrees or a higher knowledge than your average person

I defend the show as much as anyone, but I don't think this is a valid defense. There are some references to things like comic book characters or scientific concepts that may not have the full impact if you're not familiar with them, but for the most part these big unfamiliar words are plugged into pretty standard comedy formulas.

My comments were not aimed at the "geniuses" on the show, but the genius of the writing.

I agree that there are many (if not most) comical issues that do not require a knowledge of quantum mechanics.

The thing about Big Bang Theory is that the first season and some of the second the characters were really cliche and stereotypical. But I believe sometime around then there was a new producer or writer I forget who.

Anyway the characters became more organic and more of an extension of themselves pieced with the cliche and stereotyping of the original characters.

Also a lot of the jokes or writing can be considered inside since you have to follow the show to truly be able to enjoy the way we fans of it do. Also one of the best sitcoms as far as consistency goes ie something that happens in an earlier show or season is not totally dismissed later. Allows the viewer to really fall in love with the show for its fluidity.

I think the show does have it's moments, but they usually only occur when all 4 members of the group are involved in the same geeky activity at the same time. Most of the time they seem content with being a geeky version of Friends.

I consider Arrested Development to be near genius level writing.

I'm sure it does. I've seen some episodes and gotten a few laughs, but overall, it doesn't appeal to me.

But as far as the genius label goes, that's reserved for just a very few shows, and I don't think it qualifies as offensive to say the BBT does not have genius level writing.

True story: I traveled down to Florida for my brothers wedding a couple of weeks ago. My brother and sister were watching TBBT in their room. I rarely get to see these guys. I had to leave. It was bad.

with your charming personality of popping in just to tell others something they like sucks...i can't imagine why they didn't spend more time with you.

It's a show that's worth a few laughs, and certainly shouldn't be as polerizing as it is.
