I don't but surely it's one measure of the quality of a production along with numerous awards including an Emmy win by Jim Parsons and a bunch of Emmy nominations. BBT is well recognized as a good show regardless of the opinions on this board.

Emmy's are a legitimate thing to point to. Ratings just aren't a legitimate way of measuring quality.

Why? Emmy's are as subjective as ratings. Neither assure quality.

How DO they write this stuff?

It doesn't have to be original or overly clever to be make people laugh. You guys are like the food snobs on the food board who act like no one should ever eat anything that isn't fine dining. It's ok to laugh at easy jokes.

Spoken like a true TV/Movie snob.

Is BBT the cool show/movie to hate on the movie board now ?

you might realize that some people have legitimate reasons for not liking the show. LINK
there are definitely legit reasons to not like the show and I understand them. the ridiculous hate it receives on this board sometimes is really out of control though. the LCD shite the snobs throw around to people who like it really irks me. I wouldn't put it in my top 5 comedies currently airing but I do enjoy it and watch it every week.

you can really see some people hate on it on here because they think they are supposed to by the way they talk about it

I get that, BUT, a lot of people act like the show is something special, which it's not.

it is nothing special and it is a regurgitated formula that has been produced multiple times. a lot of people act like it is the worst thing on tv, which it's not

I didn't say Emmy's are infallible and that you can't disagree with them. Just that they are a legitimate discusion point when trying to assess quality. Yes, they are subjective, but that doesn't mean they're inherently bad.

john noble never receiving an emmy or nomination for walter bishop makes them irrelevant

I don't think it's special.

It does make me laugh. That's the point, is it not?

Obviously but they are pieces of data that help viewers evaluate a production. Quality in the case of movies/TV is pretty much subjective based individual taste. And yea, there are critics on this board who seem to consider themselves the final authority on quality regardless of other opinions.

The show has been overly defended because it has been and continues to be overly attacked. I also find it curious how people can be so emotionally invested in a show they don't watch regularly.

Do you use box office totals to determine whether a movie is good or not?

Yes. Regardless of all the things I explained in the thread I linked to this one, I only don't like BBT because other people say that they don't like it.

There were only 2 posts in this thread before you came thundering in to tell everyone how awful this show is.

Please point out what in those 2 posts indicated they thought this was a special show?

Yea, I agree with your enhanced comment. It seems to me, given the political correct nature of Hollywood, many of the awards presented to movies and TV shows these days have about as much credence as obama's Nobel Peace Prize.

At times Hollywood seems to be more concerned with message than writing and acting.

Nor is it "awful" as you stated in your initial post in this thread.
