It's gritty and for the time, it was rather revolutionary.

I'd rather his post, and dont get me wrong it sucks, than all the predictable, lazy, useless, posts about DEI, trans, gay, etc.

For the record, I agree.

Random ignorance and typical haterade is much more preferable than culture wars silliness.

Yes. The grittiness, griminess, and lack of polish is what makes it great. It's borderline a snuff film in presentation.

Also, the scenario is novel and still scary. Just look at how they've done most of the remakes and sequels and they shoehorn it into generic slasher nonsense. This was something completely different. Now, the novelty of that has worn off due to so many films ripping it off, but, even then, there are no substitutes. All the imitations missed the mark bigly and failed compared to TCM.

The funny thing is people STILL think it's a gore film. I imagine the #2 Stunna guy thinks of it that way, and that's what he meant by "or genre of this type movie or tv show." and "Not scary, just pathetic entertainment."

I'm an unabashed TCM lover. I remember way back in the day when it was me and Wiki v. the world on both TCM and BTC. I even made an homage thread a few years ago.

In honor of 10/31, I watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) Last night. Still the GOAT

Good of you to fight the good fight. Tobe Hooper was the man. I enjoy Evil Dead for the same grittiness. There’s something unsettling about low budget horror from the 70s. Perhaps it’s the cheap cameras, the film stock, the lack of stars, it just works on a completely different level. Halloween has that same feel as well and all were genre creating classics that still hold up today. Have you been to Hooper’s restaurant where they filmed the movie? Or the bbq place in Bastrop? Hell, TCM2 was just as good if not a completely different tonal film.

That’s a horrible take, the acting of the family was an insanely good.

It may have been one person who was so bad that it tainted the whole movie. I would have to watch it again to be sure, I just dont want to do that
