I love the 80s electronic noir style in music and tv/games.

I suppose Nightcall from Drive is a good modern example.

Love On a Real Train

Also the work of Wendy Carlos in Clockwork and Tron was groundbreaking. She/he is worth a Google. Pretty interesting fellow/gal.

Worth noting that Halloween and Escape From New York were composed by the director John Carpenter.

maybe not synth-y in a traditional sense, but there are a fair amount of ambient, spacy, synth tracks. frickin love it

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Ladyhawke was am awesome movie almost ruined by an 80's synth score.
