Gone Baby Gone are both great, book and movie.

Ditto for Jurassic Park and The Green Mile.

No Country for Old Men

Most of the best movies are based on books but in the case of No Country for Old Men most of the dialogue is word for word from the book; and that is unusual. So I'll agree with this.

Not sure if anyone here has ever read Deliverance, but besides the first chapter, it follows the book almost to a tee.

I didn't think it was the best movie, but I thought Jack Reacher was pretty good.

You've got me on that one. I haven't read the book. So I should stay away from it, right?

I really liked the book.

The Jaws book was weird. I read it when I was little and reading everything that moved and the book had some graphic sex descriptions. Particularly, the wife imagining if she got in a car wreck, if people would piece together that she was having an affair based on having no panties on and her leg being drenched in pussy juice.

Other books I read too young,
Shogun (anal beads)
Silence of the Lambs

My vote: Count of Monte Cristo. Loved this movie

If you're talking about the Jim Cavizel one, that movie had little to do with the book. I really like it, though.

I'm going with Hunt For Red October. It does a fantastic job of staying with the source material while really only making changes that help the story along on screen. I choose this because the quality of the book and movie are both very high.

Jurassic Park

My 1A.

Never read the book, but I understand the bad guys are the Americans, not the French.

The movie isn't really based off of one book but draws from several in the series. But during the far side of the world book it is the americans.

I absolutely loved the book. The movie was great in its own right, but it didn't do the book justice.

Technically a short story, and another rare example of a movie that was better than the book.
