Loved the "Oceans" trilogy...

Loved everything about them except for the Julia Roberts playing Julia Roberts bit. Too clever for its own good

1st was tolerable, 2nd was atrocious, 3rd was weak.

Are these really true Trilogies? (Oceans too)

Where it's basically the same movie over and over and over again.

Shouldn't Trilogies require some advance/grow/change of the story instead of merely replaying the original in a different location?

Godfather, Dollars, Star Wars, they're chapters...not do-overs.

I am not even sure it is fair to count LOTR in this.

It isn't really a trilogy. It is single 12 hour movie divided into 3 parts.

It didn't 3 distinct stories like everything else.

Even with the super tight tie in of Back to the Future isn't like that.

I think that Return of the Jedi put a slight damper on it honestly.

Lord of the Rings has aged better than Star Wars.

Interesting question: Which story do you think took place further in the past?

3rd age of Earth (right?) vs. a long long time ago

Congrats Pectus, you've set a new bar on nerdiest question ever asked on this board.

The Godfather. The first 2 are among the best movies ever. The Godfather III is not a terrible film, but it is nowhere near the quality of the first 2. If Copola wouldn't have put his daughter in it, then it would have been a lot better.

The quality of the first 2 carries the trilogy.
