The fans, due to their vileness and stupidity, don't deserve nice things anyway. They don't deserve the Affleck. If I could, I would cast fricking Carrot Top or something, just to spite them.

The more I think about him as Batman, the more I like it. If anything, I think his past failures will benefit him here.

I'm starting to get on board. Maybe he will play Bats a little grittier than Bale did.

They should have let him reprise his role as Superman from Hollywoodland. Come on Ben, I was starting to think you were better than this.

It is. Another reason for the meh. But someone needs to keep Snyder from going full retard as it is obvious Nolan can't or won't.

And when exactly did Zack Snyder go full retard in regards to Man of Steel? Keep in mind he didn't write the movie or cast any of the characters.

David S. Goyer and Christopher Nolan wrote the first draft of the screenplay but Snyder had a lot of influence after the fact as Nolan gave him free reign. It was Snyder's decision to kill Zod off - something Nolan wasn't too pleased with - and it was Snyder who upped the action in the third act of the film. I remember reading a tweet from Collider back in the spring of last year that Nolan wasn't happy with the first cut of the film. The trailers, however, made it seem whatever problems had been present were remedied. While I liked the film I more than recognize the many flaws it has.

Normally I feel like directors get too much blame for what are script and performance issues. But in the case of Man of Steel Snyder made such a joyless film.

The screenplay was Goyer's from start until Snyder came on board.

Snyder added the Zod-Superman throwdown. Goyer had a weak ending of Zod dying in the crash with Faora. Nolan suggested some limpdick montage ending of Kal-El throwing his arse back in a bootlegged Phantom Zone. Snyder told them to frick off and had him kill Zod. More punch to that.

For me, the film only had two "flaws". The first one was probably explained in the prequel novel (never read) and wasn't a big deal to me: How the hell did Lara keep her pregnancy a secret so long?

Number two is how the hell did Faora know exactly where to go to find Kal-El when he agreed to meet with Zod? I'm sure this was explained in some throwaway scene that didn't make the theatrical cut, but I want my damn throwaway scenes!

I didn't like having Kal/Clark being portrayed as a 33 year old, but that's just a personal preference rather than something that didn't click with the plot.

And now he's handed this. I haven't seen Argo, so I can't comment on his abilities as a filmmaker. I didn't see Hollywoodland and he got some positive reviews for that performance. So, I'm basing this on what I've seen which has, with few exceptions, been terrible on his part.

Then you really have no right to comment.

He's been very good since 2006.

not seeing things and bashing them seems to be a bit of a theme with Ace.
