I wonder why Ben hasn't been interviewed yet. I'd like to hear his opinions and his own expectations.

And now he's handed this. I haven't seen Argo, so I can't comment on his abilities as a filmmaker. I didn't see Hollywoodland and he got some positive reviews for that performance. So, I'm basing this on what I've seen which has, with few exceptions, been terrible on his part.
Then you really have no right to comment.
He's been very good since 2006.

I'd like to see him in a quick practice scene, so I can get the taste of vomit out of my mouth.

It could have been worse. Remember just last week the strong rumor was that Orlando Bloom was in serious consideration for the role.
Then again it makes you wonder what the hell is going through the WB's mind.

I guess I missed something because, as of the day the rumor was posted, there was zero substance to it. No official sources, no WB statement, etc.
There was never a strong rumor of the Batman casting before Affleck was announced.
A lot these fan sites have figured out how easy it is to get hits. Just say a name and that it came from an anonymous source.

Granted; that would've been much, much worse.

From the LA Times…
“Mr. Mom as Batman?
July 03, 1988
So Michael Keaton has been cast as Batman/Bruce Wayne?
He might have made a good Joker, but his comic style, which he seems unable to shake (but can amplify), has doomed this promised “serious” treatment of Bob Kane’s character to the same tired, boring level of artificial “camp” that made the TV series a hit yet simultaneously doomed it to an early cancellation.
The painful lesson of “Superman III”–when you don’t treat venerable superheroes with respect the audience rejects the property–has been ignored in this cynical, opportunistic attempt to capitalize on the success of “Beetlejuice” (same director, same star).
The Sam Hamm script that director Tim Burton is filming has many blunders, but does treat the characters basically seriously. Obviously, in casting Keaton, Burton is rejecting this approach altogether and going after a manic comedy.
Batman has been a popular character for almost five decades–not because he is a figure of comedy, but precisely because he is not, especially in the last couple of years. By ignoring this, by casting a clown as Batman, Warner Bros. and Burton have defecated on the history of Batman and on the hopes of those who appreciate the character and his potential.
Better they should have filmed Frank Miller’s “Batman: the Dark Knight Returns.” But that would have required courage, taste and imagination.

I really need a list of posters for and against Affleck Batman. I'm still not sure where some of you guys stand.
I think Affleck surprises everyone. Count me in the "For" column. He's a good fit for the character.

Michael Keaton
FWIW - he was miscast, but gave, what I consider to be, a B+ or better effort.
Other than voice work, the last thing I saw him in was Jackie Brown.
I think Keaton was better than Kilmer and as good a Batman as Clooney, although both Kilmer and Clooney are better overall actors than Keaton (although he would have been irreplaceable in Nightshift, Mr. Mom and Beetlejuice.)

Against. I'm not a movie snob by any means, but I don't like this.

But his run as Batman was considered a success by most pundits and fans out there. I'm not looking for, nor am I expecting, Oscar worthy work from Affleck as the Caped Crusader. He's a good enough actor to get the job done and that's all I am looking for.

Count me in the MEH column. I think the movie itself is a much bigger mistake than who is cast as Batman. With that said, that's where Affleck's positive influence should play a role. He is a very good writer (oscar worthy, Good Will Hunting anyone?) and an Oscar winning director. If anyone can keep Snyder and the story in check on that set, it's going to be him.

That sounds like a dangerous dynamic to have the lead actor trying to change or direct the story and step over the director.

It is. Another reason for the meh. But someone needs to keep Snyder from going full retard as it is obvious Nolan can't or won't.

Affleck will do fine. People need to stop acting like these superhero movies are Shakespeare.
exactly....the amount of outrage going on right now is pretty funny.
I'm not pissed about it in any way, but I think that a lot of people can't see him playing a character with a dark side.
I mean outside of him playing the dick head in Mallrats, I dont think he's ever even played an a-hole character.
I think he'll do fine, he's one of my fav actors, just will take some getting used to for most people IMO.
