Whedons right. One thing that sucks for Affleck is that even if he does a great/good job, if the movie is bad from writing and/or directing, he will prob still get a lot of blame he doesn't deserve.

Bingo. Kudos to Whedon for saying this, but Affleck has to knock this out of the park.
Goyer isn't a great writer, he has spurts of great ideas mixed with terrible overall narrative arcs. He works when he writes with someone who can fill in the gaps and limit his craziness, or someone who is a complete expert behind the camera, like Nolan or Proyas.

It's being reported that it's a multi-picture deal. I'm guessing that means Bat-Supes, Justice League and a new Bat franchise. Get used to the idea as Ben as Batman.

It's pretty standard that they sign multi-picture deals now so this shouldn't surprise anyone.
If Sup vs Batman under performs, I don't think you guys have to worry about more Ben/Batman films.
I really need a list of posters for and against Affleck Batman. I'm still not sure where some of you guys stand.

Affleck was cast for three reasons:
1. So WB would not lose him to FOX
2. Because he is a good director and that will help keep Zack Snyder from going full retard like he did for parts of MoS
3. The big name buzz we are seeing now

I didn't like Bale's Batman - I'm going to like Affleck's even less (assuming I even watch it).
The best things about Nolan's movies were the supporting cast members.
The problem is casting an unlikeable actor in your lead role. It makes the movie tough to love, that's for sure.

I don't know if it's comparing apple and oranges but a lot of people were saying a lot of the same things when Ledger was named as The Joker and look how that turned out. By no means am I saying BA will pull off something like that but I think I'll just have reserve my judgement until after I see it.

The difference, I guess, in this case is that "Ledger" had already demonstrated (how best to put this) an ability to "act".
Don't get me wrong. Affleck showed great promise in GWH. He was good in Chasing Amy and Dogma.
But that's it - either he can't do better or he doesn't care to. And just squandered opportunities (Armageddon - I mean EVERY other actor tried to save that terrible movie, except Affleck - Pearl Harbor failed largely because of his lackluster effort) to make himself into a star.
And now he's handed this. I haven't seen Argo, so I can't comment on his abilities as a filmmaker. I didn't see Hollywoodland and he got some positive reviews for that performance. So, I'm basing this on what I've seen which has, with few exceptions, been terrible on his part.

I like how Ledger somehow makes every casting decision okay now.

I'm by no means saying that he's going to be any good. All I'm saying is that a lot of people are poo pooing on the movie without even seeing the trailer. All because BA is cast as BM. That's all. Nothing more, nothing less.

Affleck will do fine. People need to stop acting like these superhero movies are Shakespeare.
But ultimately there's gonna be no surprises or new spin on the character because it's going to be him playing non-blind Daredevil.
