No, the winner of 33 doesn't play a huge role in season 40 that I recall, and there's nothing really from 33 that relates to 37. 37 had no returning players.
I have never seen 33 and it didn't limit my enjoyment of 40...and i really liked the winner of season 33 during their time on 40...so i agree that he would probably be ok skipping 40.

Honestly... I don't think either of those hold up as well.
There are some great moments, and a few great contestants, but they are ultimately very predictable. The great contestants are why they aren't back with Season 4 and 5. (One notable person excluded from Season 4, but they weren't very noteworthy until later appearances...)
That said, they aren't bad at all. You could easily put Season 3 up a tier and you wouldn't have an argument from me.

Watching it with only a 2020 perspective it's hard for me consider most of the classic era seasons elite because they are just very straightforward and predictable to an extent. They are still very good seasons worth watching though as evidenced by me getting hooked on the show and watching 40 seasons in 76 days lol.

I don't remember a thing from season 3.
I tried watching Season 1 a few years ago, and ended up just skipping most of the episodes and watching the final 2 episodes. Of the first 3, I think season 2 is the only one that holds up, and even it is a slog to get through at times. It was just a totally different game back then.

Season 3 was africa. The last one that actually seemed like survival.

They are very character driven as opposed to being game play driven. Some would argue one is better than the other. Personally my preferences is somewhere in the middle when they are able to balance great game play with interesting and compelling player moments and story lines.

Just finished up 31. Season spoilers below
-i certainly see what UMR (I think) said earlier in the thread about moving away from alliances and towards voting blocks. It was interesting to see how fluid pretty much every player was every week
-i liked spencer a lot in cagayan so was glad to see him do well again. And tasha. Jeremy was definitely deserving though and not surprised he won unanimously
-the one tribal council was absolutely nuts. 5 people left, spence has immunity, 2 others play idols. Ended up going through a few tie breakers. It got so far into the rules that Jeff took a timeout in the studio (it was finale episode) to diagram it out for everyone ha
-kinda disappointed in woo's showing. I loved woo in Cagayan and had high hopes for him but he wasn't much of an influence on tbe season at all and petered out quick
-less hotties this year than the other seasons I've seen. Kelley pretty much carried that banner whereas there's usually 3-5 that are stunners
-overall I would rank this season last of the ones I've seen. I might be hitting slight survivor fatigue but there were some eps that I was just waiting for it to be over so I could move on which definitely didn't happen with the others
-joe was a damn warbeast at challenges. It was crazy to watch him succeed but at the same time I wanted him out so there wasn't such a dominating power force in the game
About to start 34. Based on tbe cast I have high hopes bc I like a ton of these people. I'm interested to see how or if the gameplay has changed over the 3 year gap.

quote:He's statistcally the best challenge beast ever. He's played in 3 seasons and I think he's only been to tribal twice pre merge bc his tribes dominate challenges. He also has won like 10 individual challenges he's been able to participate in. He usually gets voted out the second he doesn't win immunity.
joe was a damn warbeast at challenges.
quote:It's actually only like 1.5 years. There's 2 seasons every year leading up to 40.

quote:I get that. I feel that way sometimes too. Mostly for me it comes down to watching the challenges over and over again. by the time I had watched 15 seasons or so I pretty much just skipped to the end of every challenge. In fact, I got good enough at skipping ahead 10 seconds at a time that i can cut a 42 minute episode down to about 28-30 minutes. Made getting through slog episodes much quicker.

There are some crazy tribals in 34 if I remember correctly.

Before you start Season 40, you might want to watch something like this Spoilers, obviously
It just breaks down the signature moves of each of the 20 contestants. And gives a little bit of background as well. It was made before the season started so it won't spoil anything going in.

Which season was she on?
Posted on 9/23/20 at 12:18 pm to LSUBoo
I don’t recognize her. Where did you get that pic?
Posted on 9/23/20 at 12:22 pm to UMRealist
That's JoeHackett's avatar pic. I'm quite certain she was never on Survivor.
