I gave my best friend shite for it and I finally caved in and I am watching it now.
Watched the miniseries. On episode 3 of season 1 now.
The show? Incredible. Just fantastic. The plot, the characters, everything. Just awesome.

The miniseries and first three seasons were incredible. The fourth season was subpar and dropped it from what could have been one of my 5 favorite dramas to the 10-15 range. Balthar's trial just dragged on and was not even remotely interesting to me.

33 was one of my favorite episodes and in my opinion is up there with some of the best episodes regardless of TV series. Some of the stuff in the second half of the series is weird but you deal with it. The biggest issue/question I have is still regarding Starbuck.

Loved the way Number Six's spine would light up when she had an orgasm while riding cowgirl!
The original with Loren Greene was silly and actually got shut down by George Lucas' lawyers for being too similar to Star Wars. That said, the girl who played Adama's daughter at the time was smoking how. However, the plots were weak and it was a bit of a stretch for "Ben Cartwright" to go from riding a horse to riding a spaceship. Just didn't work.
The new one ....... damned excellent writers ....... good acting ......... scripts had some substance ........and there was the girl who played "Number Six" and the other one who is now on Hawaii Five-O. Always enjoyed watching those two little asses run around. Number Six eventually posed for Playboy. Wished Grace Park had followed and done the same.
I might add, the way the series finale was written was just damned out of this world. It was one of the very few fitting series finales I can recall.

If by "didn't work" you mean "was awesome" - then you're right.
