Doomsday Planned To Appear In Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice
quote:
Bleeding Cool sources who have been rather reliable in the past have told us that they have seen Batman V Superman designs for the character of Doomsday. In the comics, Doomsday was the creature who killed Superman, in an epic battle across all the Superman titled, culminating a battle composed entirely of splash pages drawn by Dan Jurgens.
Recently, the character returned in the rebooted New 52 Superman titles, in the crossover event Doomed masterminded by Scott Lobdell.
Now, of course, much can change in the production process. This may be used purely for flashback purposes on the screen, looking at the life (and death) of Superman. It may be purely for promotional efforts to accompany the film. Or it may not make it to the final cut.
But as of now, it looks like Doomsday, the killer of Superman, be in the next film… will Superman make it out alive?
Probably. It is the dawn of justice after all. And not the wake.

So this movie will have 0 humans? Just heroes and villains abound?
Ok maybe Perry and Lois. But that seems to be it.

Since this thread seems to be the depository for thoughts on Man of Steel, I finally saw it on HBO because it's hard for me to get to the movies with Mowgli running around.
And.... wow. That was a really bad movie. Mrs. Baloo and I spent the middle half of the film making fun of the movie by only talking in whispers to each other, to mimic the people on the screen. It was the worst kind of comic adaptation: one that was ashamed of the source material.
I'll admit that I'm not the biggest Superman fan in the world, but this film managed to make me feel bad for Superman fans on their behalf. The muted colors, the way Supes casually destroys Metropolis and Smallville, plus probably about a million or so innocent bystanders, and then the resolution with Zod... it was something, but it wasn't a Superman movie.
Here's one of the biggest problems with the movie: Clark moves backwards. He's more heroic in the opening scene, saving the guy on the oil rig, than he is by the movie's end. I mean, if this is the hero's journey in becoming a hero, they sort of botched it. He was already there, and then regressed. Also, this is the first time I've ever disliked Amy Adams in a film. What a waste of her talents.
Though points for a decent Zod. He had sensible motivations and made a quality villain. They got that right. Everything with Superman and, well, people, is tone deaf and wrong, but they nailed Zod. Snyder cares way too much about his whizz bang visuals to write a decent story or anything, but Shannon effectively chews scenery.
Other than that, Man of Steel has convinced me to stay far. far away from the sequel. Unless I get curious in a rubbernecking kind of way how he'll ruin Wonder Woman, too.

Deserves its own thread.
Good analysis, but prepare yourself...

[quote]On this board, there is a ridiculous overrating of The Avengers and a ridiculous underrating of Man of Steel[/quote}/]
yes
avengers in fact has more plot holes, the entire second act is boring nonsense. Really, the only good thing I can say about it is how well the actions framed in the last 20 minutes, the scene where they're fighting monsters I've never seen before, know nothing about, and don't care about.
MOS has ridiculous advertising, some poor acting by the two leads (it's a superman movie though) amy adams shouldn't even be in the movie at all, there are some glaring plot holes and metropolis takes too much of a beating, which I could overlook if it wasn't bidnass as usual in the final scene
MOS>avengers.

Yep. That's about right.

That was kind of the point of this movie. It looks like Superman but it's really not. It's about Clark Kent really having no idea what to do and learning from his mistakes and becoming wiser and more seasoned on what to do and what not to do in similar situations. Besides, the destruction and the violence is actually identical to the justice league cartoons and animated movies and I don't see anybody complaining about it, they were the first to accurately portray what an actual battle between meta humans would look like. Man of Steel is no different in that regard.

Didn't you already opine on this movie in a previous thread with you giving out the impression that you saw it?

Has it occurred to you that they're trying to give off the impression that Superman is in dark and gloomy Gotham?
Here's a better pic for us all then...

I like the MOS style, but I would prefer a balanced superman
I don't want Christopher reeves fricking bubble gum shite, and while I like it, I do not prefer the dark knight superman
I think the animated series and the recent DC animated films have captured the character perfectly and that is what the movies should attempt to do

Yeah, that's when I first saw it. I forgot I had posted in a thread about it. I'm playing catch up to movies from last year and can't remember which one I've opined on. But I watched Superman for the first time this summer. I didn't see it in the theaters, and missed out on the stuff from last year. that thread was from May.
I just noticed this thread, but I didn't see Superman last night. I finally watched World War Z last night.

Yes. Going by the first images that they've released of each character, they're going for an even darker and more depressing version of Superman than they had in MOS.
By the JLA movie he should be wearing a hood and carrying a scythe.
