It’s bikerwear, in that Batgirl rides a motorcycle.

So what. It should be tight fitting and show off tits. A camel toe wouldn't hurt either.

Not that I get bent out of shape like some people here about intentionally fantastical representations of women and whether or not the depictions comport with what would happen in real life, but “using her brain to find creative ways to win fights” is precisely something that Batgirl is known to do. She’s a computer scientist with world class criminology skills. And when she does get physical in a fight, she is just as likely to use a weapon like a Batarang as she is to use her fists.

It’s also what a number of the geeks on this board want out of Batman. How many times are we gonna read “I want a Batman movie that shows him being the World’s Greatest Detective” lol

That’s a criticism that doesn’t really hold up in the majority of cases.

In Batman (1989), Batman has analyzed the various combinations of cosmetics and found the combinations that are toxic. (Did these critics want to see Michael Keaton mixing chemicals in flasks and beakers?)

In Batman Returns (1992), Batman is researching the backstory of Oswald and the Red Triangle gang.

Batman Forever, he analyzes the riddles left behind to discover the Riddler’s identity. (It’s silly in that it’s obviously Nygma, but in comic book logic where those masks actually work, it works.)

Batman & Robin - Okay, this one is a blank. No detective work.

Batman Begins - He is electronically eavesdropping on Falconi and Crane and uncovers the plot to gas Gotham with the fear toxin.

The Dark Knight - We actually see him working in the Batcave to piece together the bullet fragments to get the finger print. (Although, somehow, the computer algorithm he uses somehow virtually reconstructs the casing (which has the actual fingerprint on it) along with the bullet which would have been discarded on the floor rather than buried in the wall.)

Unless she has some special powers imbued in her (Wonder Woman, Buffy, River Tam, etc...) It's silly to perpetually think a 5'4" girl weighing 125 soaking wet can take down a 6'4 260 Lb mobster or even a 5'11 200 lb average guy. Maybe a Gina Carano, Ronda Rousey, or Frankie Adams (Bobbi Draper) type can hold her own, but she won't' be able to toss around these guys and take on several all at once. Yet we're forced into accepting that these girls with damn near model like physiques can take on a football team. And not in the fun way either.

I didn’t realize Batgirl (2022) was supposed to be a documentary.

If we are to judge movie fight scenes based on real-life consequences, Indiana Jones would have had a mangled, monsterous, and unrecognizable face by The Last Crusade.

could be. Ruby Rose famed white person wore one too

Ruby Rose was playing a different character.

The red wig originated with the original live action Batgirl, Yvonne Craig.

Well, it looks to me like this girl is playing the same character and wearing the same colored red wig.

Who said it was? How is that relevant? Or did you not read my post-at all?

Yeah, nice deflection. Stick to the issue, how about? The real world comparison here are men participating in women's sports and crushing the competition.

How do you only see what you want to see? Wonder Woman can deflect bullets off her metal gauntlets because she's a demigod. Buffy can defeat super strong vampires because she's The Slayer. In every movie / t.v. show, there's a suspension of belief that is required, but even those 'superheroes' have limits.

Your average ordinary spy girl can't take down several burley large men. Black Widow had nearly a life time of training (and help with CGI) for her to win her fights, but most of her skillset was that she didn't broadcast her abilities and was able to catch her adversaries off guard.

The smarter and better written a character, the more the viewer will buy into them doing things which otherwise would seem unlikely.

I think you’re taking this a bit too seriously.

I think you're not taking it seriously enough. If you're gonna bother with fictionalized characters, there still has to be some grounded connection to realism for it to be worthwhile. Things still have to make sense in the world in which they're presented.

A lot of action movies as well. I remember a joke Eddie Murphy used to do on it. "That stuff you see in the movies? That's choreographed. I'm a 150 pounds. I ain't beaten' nobody's arse in a fight."

I'd rather suspend my belief some and have a good actress play the part similiar to the comics than have some Ronda Rousey brute bad actress type play the part just so it will make a comic book show slightly more believable.

You literally have no idea how well the writing will be. You're talking like you've already seen the show and they've screwed up the writing. You might think they have screwed up the casting by not hiring some WWE actress, but that's about all you can say right now.

I know enough to see what's been a trend in the entertainment world the past 4-5 years. And my initial comment wasn't on the actress herself, but the costume they chose to put on her. This all stems from the Comics-gate kerfuffle that started back in '14 or so. Since then, it's been a steady stream of removing the womanly accents of a character and promoting 'The Message' over all other things.

I won't rehash this topic again unless you really want, but safe to say that just from the outfit alone it's not looking promising.

But if it's surprisingly well written and a big success, then great! Everyone wins.
