Aykroyd Working on Ghostbusters 3

Dan Rather Interview
In the interview he tactfully praises the 'women Ghostbusters' (while simultaneously bashing it) and says that he has a team writing a new movie that will be a true sequel to the original two movies.
...and he believes Bill Murray will be on board.
I know we have heard this before, but this excites me. Also, made me a bit sad that Egon is now on the other side...

lol. Aykroyd has been working on Ghostbusters 3 since Ghostbusters 2 essentially wrapped. It was teased throughout the 1990s and the 2000s.
Now that Egon is dead, it can't happen. It's just clickbait at this point.

I know you're right, but I need something to take the bad taste of the female Ghostbusters out of my mouth (and I never even watched it).

They should bring in the cast of the most recent Ghostbusters.

Never gonna happen. They had roughly 20 years to get one out, but Ramis is gone now. It wouldn’t be the same. This was rumored for many years and just never materialized.
I love the original 2, though I have always wondered how different it would have been had prime Eddie Murphy played Winston.

The video game on Xbox was a damn good sequel and had all the originals voice it
Edit:
To piggy back off this and for those who don't want to look it up.
The games script was written by Akroyd and Ramis and had literally all the original voice cast. Here's the synopsis.

The year is 1991, it is two years since the events of Vigo the Carpathian plagued New York City. Now the Ghostbusters are going strong and looking to franchise out the business. You play as a new recruit in Ghostbusters International, and just as you get started with GBI, an ancient evil descends upon New York City and several familiar faces return.

Aykroyd has said in the past the video game Ghostbusters for the Xbox should be considered Ghostbusters 3.

Bring back ghost Egon via CGI as an evil lord from the spirit world. Harold Rams would have loved it.

Egon can come back and fight as a ghost

As much as it would cause this board throw a fit a crossover could actually work. I'm almost positive there was an episode in the cartoon series where the GBs get sucked into an alternate universe and work with their counterparts.

It seems the way to go now is to just ignore all sequels and just make a real Ghostbusters 2
Write Peter out of the sequel, egon passed away, and Ray and Winston having trouble with the business by themselves. That's a start.

I dunno,is Ernie Hudson too busy?

Have the original actors plus CGI Egon sucked into a portal, then spat out as younger versions of themselves: JGL as Venkman, Jonah Hill as Ray, Seth Rogen as Egon, and Michael B Jordan as Hudson.
Now make it a stoner comedy and print money.
It won't be Ghostbusters, but neither will anything else.

Horrible cast. Seth Rogen has literally zero resemblance to Egon.
JGL as Venkman? lol

I want to believe there is 0% chance this will happen because Harold Ramis is no longer with us.
But, I've learned to never underestimate the power of Hollywood to do an ill-advised sequel or reboot. There is nothing unimaginable, including them CGI-ing Ramis' character as a ghost and getting a soundalike to do his dialogue.

There is no Ghostbusters without Ramis or Moranis

Honestly get the Ghostbuster video game. The entire cast lent their voices for it. That’s as close to Ghostbusters 3 were ever going to get.

And have them all killed off in the first scene, eliciting a standing ovation from the audience and causing the surviving Original Ghostbusters to come out of retirement to save the day.
