I don't take reviews all that seriously. I look to see what they think, but if it's something that looks interesting to me, I'll see it regardless.

That said, Armond White is a critic for the New York Press. He became the first critic to give "Up" a negative review (which then led to him getting 127 comments on Rotten Tomatoes).

Recent movies he's hated include Up, Wall-E, The Dark Knight, Iron Man, Doubt, Milk, Slumdog Millionaire, Benjamin Button, Star Trek, Gran Torino, The Wrestler, Gone Baby Gone, the list goes on and on.

By contrast, he loved Dance Flick and called Transporter 3 "the only movie you need to see this season."

I mean, I understand having your own opinion, but as a professional critic, this guy is kinda bizarre. Maybe it's just me. Whatchu think?

yeah, I've kind of wondered about these guys too. For the shitty films that they give good reviews, I think they sometimes get paid to give a good review, that way the movie can plaster their one-liner all over the trailer and the DVD. On the other hand, the only reason I can figure that they give great films bad reviews is just to seem high brow, pretentious, and all around snobby when it comes down to it, probably to make them seem like they have extremely superior taste or something.

This guy is a legend over at Rotten Tomatoes, he seems to wait until a movie has almost all good reviews before he steps in and destroys it. It's pretty funny. He draws so much vile and hate from the readers

My brother and cousin both think he's the only reviewer worth a damn. And my cousin works in Hollywood and went to film school. I guess I just don't get it.

Yeah, he said "Hitman" was "all innovative, intelligent and sleek" but hated Star Trek and called it "TV masquerading as film".

He's really a weird dude.

He LOVES Spielberg. He never gives him poor reviews. No shite, he had "War of the Worlds" as his #1 movie from 2005.

I wish I was too, they both told me they wanted to see Meet Dave, based on Armond's review.

From his "Better-Than 2008" list:

quote:

Twilight BETTER THAN Let the Right One In: Catherine Hardwicke finds her métier in an outsiders’ romance disguised as a vampire movie; she turns Stephenie Meyer’s book series into a Brontë-esque vision, especially compared to the dismal Scandinavian J-horror rip-off.

quote:

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull BETTER THAN Iron Man: Steven Spielberg’s par excellence genre expertise wrung fresh amazement out of the Indy Jones franchise; it exposed Iron Man’s dung-like banality.

quote:

Transporter 3 BETTER THAN The Dark Knight: Olivier Megaton, Jason Statham and Luc Besson reinvent the action movie as kinetic art, but impressionable teenagers mistook Chris Nolan’s nihilistic graphic novel for kool fun.

He's back again. "Land of the Lost" had 12 rotten reviews and 0 fresh ones until....Armond:

Compared to this, he says Star Trek is "much-inferior".

This dude's a trip.

He's the worst critic alive, since he only lives to frick up the Tomatometer. Thats his only goal in life is to make sure there is never another 100% or 0% on Rotten Tomatoes again.
