I didn't know until recently that Harvey Keitel was hired to star and filmed many scenes before they fired him and brought in M. Sheen. I knew about Eric Stolz on Back to the Future and a few others but for some strange reason never heard the Apocalypse Now story.

My two favorite films are The Deer Hunter and Apocalypse Now, the Redux so I can stay in that world even longer.

I know it’s an unpopular opinion but I think The Deer Hunter is one of the most overrated movies ever.
Yes it some incredible scenes and the tension at the end is hard to top. But god damn, the endless wedding scene at the beginning ruins it. They could have used only 20% of that and still driven the point home and it would have been a much better movie.
