Anyone else think that Nolan has inspired loyalty to his vision of Batman?

By that I mean, if WB comes out with a new Batman film within the next 5 years without Nolan attached in some capacity, box office returns will be depressed compared to what you would expect from the momentum of his earlier films?

Or is his Batman legacy merely that of a buffer between the present and the corny lines that Mr Freeze delivered?

And Batsuit nipples.

He's already said he's producing a new trilogy.

Depends on what direction they take it, if it's falling in line with a movie DCU and tells a different part of the story (as patriarch of the Bat-Family) or a direct adaptation (say The Long Halloween or Year One) it could be an uber-success.Make him the Ultra Humanite in a world filled with supers and it could still be interesting.

He should make a Flash movie after he's done with Superman and some other person will have to make Aquaman and Wonder Woman movies work somehow and BOOM we got the Justice League!

there's zero chance they do another Batman movie so soon without his name attached (i.e. producing). Similar to what Peter Jackson tried to do with the Lord of the Rings. And the ending would lead us to believe that's inevitable, though not sure how long.

Anybody outside of Nolan making a Batman movie would have to be an idiot. Sure they would make some money, but they would be compared to the gold standard for comic book/superhero movies. To me, I feel like this has Jackson's LOTR and Lucas' original Star Wars feel to it. Nobody outside of Jackson or Lucas (though I think he has sole rights to them) would dare make a movie along those story lines/name/title. at least in the next 25 years. He would be hated before it even was released. Nolan would have to be the guy making more Batman movies and that won't happen for a while if ever.

This just may be me but, Can the fan boys please refrain form jizzing their shorts on this board. Yes Nolan's version is "epic" yadda yadda yadda. You are forgetting, and wrongfully so, that without Tim Burtons's batman movie this Nolan series of batman movies wouldn't exist.

The Burton movies, 1&2, are the thesis of what Batman is. B. Wayne is meekish and unassuming, "small" if you will. But in the Batman persona he is the baddest mother f**ker in the city.
Jack Nicholson give a Perfect rendition of the Joker. Not merely content with chaos but delight in the suffering of others due to his genius.

P.S. I really do like the current Batman trilogy. H. Ledger is the second best villain of all time

biglego, please do not confuse the trash that the original batman became, with the first two. No one would have thought that Michael Keeton would have been able to play B.wayne as well as he did. Now I am not fooling myself here, Jack Nicholson's made that movie. Keeton gave it depth imo. Tim Burton brought a darkness to the Batman franchise that before him (Burton) was only imaginable in drawings.
If there are more Batman movies to be made then they will should go with a completely different fell to them. Go with a different directorial style.

This is just me, but if they were to do a Year one or any of the Miller batman's, shite even a bob Kane batman, I would like to see it done in a Sin City type of style.
P.S. I hope the same thing lego

Tigerterror this last batman was a half eaten sandwich made up of a multiple of batman series, then thrown up and shite upon. Nolan should be f*cking ashamed of himself.

Off the top of my head the Batman comics that were used for the trilogy:

The Man Who falls
Year One
The Long Halloween
Knightfall
The Killing Joke

I think they did a good job drawing bits and pieces from each of these. If there are any other books that you guys know were used I'd like to know.

Batman begins is not even f*cking on the same page as the book. You have to take the Nolan Batman as a standalone series. There can be no other Batman movie in this particular timeline and have it match with the first three.
Yes a Year One at the minimum 80% faithful to the source material. None of the Nolan movies have even hinted at the greatness of Millers books. Alone the movies are great and stand alone as a separate story line for the batman character.

The joy of comics is now on the big screen. We can start over and tell a totally different story every couple of years. In the comics didn't Talia's parents meet at Woodstock instead

Yes the joy of comics is on the big screen! I enjoy the New stories made to give old characters fresh life. But I can't stand that that everyone thinks this "new" Batman is so great compared to the tons of source material out there. Some of the comics have fudged around with Batman, hell all the DC heroes. The simple fact is that Batman can never truly be what it is in the comic book unless an illustrator directs the movie. Tim Burton is the only director imo only that has come closest to the "Batman" mythos and "comic" style.
Tell me honestly whould you rather have Nolan or Miller Direct a Batman series. I pick Miller.

Not saying they weren't entertaining but Burton's first Batman movie was his best one, meaning it was decent, not a movie that you walk away from after watching saying, "Damn! That was awesome!"

Batman Returns is terrible. I was working at a movie theatre when it came out and we got it. The only good thing about it was Michelle Pfeiffer's catwoman suit.

No he didn't. He played Jack Nicholson in Joker make up. Again, he didn't suck at it but it was just ok.

Neither of these two movies can hold a candle to Christopher Nolan's Batman movies. His Batman movies touch on all emotions to all of it's viewers. They aren't simply a comic book action movie a la "The Avengers," which I really, really enjoyed, but it lacked some emotional connection with the viewers, the same can be said for Burton's first Batman movie.

TBH, I am almost positive this is what is going to happen: Nolan in some non-directorial creative role, with them expanding the current universe with JGL and Oldman returning.

I was just wondering what other people felt about the idea of a different take/vision happening so soon.

Ashamed for what? Making a kick arse movie? Having the third largest grossing opening weekend in history?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but you're being a bit dramatic here.
