I think you have to look at it as Wooderson is to Pink as Pink is to Mitch. It's just to show that the tradition will live on with Mitch being the senior one day that is ushering in a new group of students.

I know this is an unpopular opinion but anyone see issues with Wooderson hanging with high school kids and dating high school chicks years after he graduated?
The college aged guy hanging at high school parties was always kind of douchey to me when I was in high school.

Yeah Jodi was 1, but Shavonne and Kaye were fire and needed more screen time imo.
I put both of them above Simone or Darla. I like Posey and JLA as actresses but don’t find either particularly attractive.

Well the simplest answer is that Linklater was a very good pitcher growing up and this movie is basically a mosaic of his high school experience, so Mitch is basically him as an incoming freshman, which included him striking out some dudes in the plot

Linklater has sort of tried to explain away Mitch as the awkwardness befitting a high school freshman.
I think it's a little bit of CYA on how bad Wiley Wiggins' acting was, but it also sort of makes his scenes less crappy on rewatch when you try to layer in that context.

That’s the point, man. I think almost everyone who went to high school there would be that creep that occasionally show up to parties with a bunch of teenagers because he went in and bought all the beer for the party. Once you get to a certain age you realize how creepy that really was.
