Kingbob, was Jovin disappointed with the way the season was so different?

Absolutely. Jovin was the most experienced stage performer in the top 20, and several of the finalists remaining suffer from serious stage fright (Arthur, Johnny, Louie, Francisco). This definitely put him at a disadvantage. He’s all about working a crowd. In addition, it canceled the duet he was supposed to get to do with Stevie Wonder. He was crestfallen to come so close and not make it, as anyone would be.

He’s proud of his body of work and definitely caught the attention of a lot of serious musicians. As soon as covid is over, he won’t be hurting for gigs with any of his bands. The only question is which ones, if any, are gonna get to tour with him? No idea yet.

I’m rooting for Johnny. He’s the only real musician left. Arthur is my second choice, but Just Sam will win because of the “story”.

Is he willing to try again or try another show like the Voice?

He tried out for the voice years ago, but he’s now aged out for all the shows. This was his last hurrah. He won’t be hurting. Mission accomplished. He finally got his name out of just BR and New Orleans.

Dillon is so bland. Nothing impressive about his voice at all. I feel cheated he made it this far.

Solid performance out of Francisco.

Really underwhelming from Just Sam. I’ve heard better renditions of that song at karaoke. One of her worst performances so far.

Arthur learned another song! Really good performance with a lot of personality. Best so far tonight.

Johnny was solid, but he’s been better.

I would rank those performances from worst to best with
Dillon
Just Sam
Johnny
Francisco
Arthur

Dillon had a better performance in the second round. Very polished, though still a little bland.

Francisco really killed it in round two. Definitely making a strong last impression.

Just Sam with a pretty strong last performance.

Arthur was a little underwhelming, tbh.

Johnny’s my pick after that. I like his original music a lot.

We were supposed to play one in Houma next Saturday, but our bassist may have Corona, lol. He’s still waiting on his test results.

FYI, here’s some Jovin Webb material y’all can stream:
Bayou Bullets - New Lie

Captain Green - The Mack

Since we probably know many of the same people, do you find it funny how people who never support live music in town always jump on the bandwagon? I know people want to support the hometown kid but I'll be curious to see how many people will actually support him (and us) when we all get back to it.

Not sure how it all works but maybe Arthur doesn’t have to deal with Idol contracts
With the way this season was maybe it’s best for he & people like Jovin go get their names out there & reap the benefits on their terms

We definitely were drawing bigger crowds at our performances after his audition ran on tv, so maybe. I’m just worried that covid will delay venues opening and tours until the wave has completely died and people forget about him.

I don’t fault people for not supporting local original music in BR as the scene is poorly advertised and hard to know about unless you’re in it. In addition, very few of the bands have significant mainstream appeal. I understand why your average couple wouldn’t be interested in moshing at Southside arts center with a bunch of shitfaced 19 year-olds to some crappy hardcore band. It’s tough to get music out to people not in that scene through conventional means. It often can only be found by those who know where to look, and that’s a problem which could use solving. I definitely don’t have the solution, lol. I welcome any and all bandwagoners. I don’t care how anyone found our music, just happy if they enjoy it.

I definitely understand that. I've been out of the original scene and it's nearly as bad playing songs they want to hear.

Every one of the top 20 signs a contract, and all of the top 11 get to be part of the idol tour.

Sam will never be heard from again. Great story but nothing I mean nothing special. Dillon and Arthur will have a decent careers. Lauren will be a star.

What is with the Dillon love? I really don’t get it. Lauren definitely has a bright future

This season ended with quite a whimper ...

Whatever ..

Had it played out normally , I think the results would’ve been much different .. some of the bigger voices were hampered by the logistics and singing in bedrooms instead of theaters
