I haven't seen any board reviews, Mitch Rapp series (books) are easy read book. Not on the technology level of Tom Clancy, but good books nonetheless.

it was ok, pretty slow at times - reminds me of the second Bourne movie.

I love the book series, actually started reading them this summer and almost have them all read. I was excited but nervous about a big screen adaptation. If it does well it could easily be the next series that makes multiple movies a la Jack Ryan. Some of the books read like a movie. Haven't seen it yet though due to work and kid stuff.

Did I see somewhere that it doesn't follow the book storyline very much? Didn't use the Pan Am disaster among other things? That might kill it for me because I enjoyed the books so much.

Similarly to the last Harry Potter movies.

We're going at 4pm. This thread prompted me to buy-in. I don't think I ever read this one. I did Term Limits and Transfer of Power, and loved them. Mitch Rapp is second only to John Clark IMO, in the BAMF category. I still want a Without Remorse movie.

I really enjoyed it. I didn't think the pacing was an issue at all. Hope it does well enough for more Rapp movies.

I haven't seen one preview for this. Is it getting any decent marketing at all? I've never heard of it till now.

Went with the wife and daughter. I'm the only one who has read the books. We all really liked it. I was happy with the casting, acting and story. I'm glad they updated it instead of making it a period piece.

Side note. Didn't Rapp kill Saddam Hussein's sons in one of the books?

I saw it today. I freaking love these books and that always makes me scared about a movie.

I really liked it. Liked O'Brien as Rapp and Keaton as Hurley. I read the book years ago (will re-read soon), so I don't remember all the details of the book. But, I don't feel like they destroyed the book or the character.

I just thank god it wasn't a Hemsworth cast as Rapp

Glad to hear it is a good adaptation. Looks like they changed a fair bit from the book but that's not always the worst thing. I love Keaton in anything and the guy playing Rapp is a good actor as well.

I saw it Saturday and was happy with it. The Rapp books are by far my favorite series ever.

It was pretty different from the book(s) in terms of story but the overall feel was pretty spot on. I liked Dylan overall as Rapp, although his voice is a lot softer than I had in my head. But he got the attitude down pretty good. The rage he showed at times felt very true to character.

Keaton made a good Hurley. I really liked him.

Ghost was okay. I usually find the villains in these kinds of movies to be pretty bad and over the top. I think they kept Ghost toned down a good bit to their credit.

SPOILERS COMING...

I liked the take on his girlfriend's death. Having him at the scene and getting shot made it a lot more personal to me. Instead of a plane blowing up that he wasn't on he instead gets to watch her die.

I liked how they handled getting rid of the terrorist with Rapp not getting the kill. The rage as he stabs the body was nice. It would have been nice to see Rapp have a background as a strong athlete like in the books to explain his physical skills. Would have made a little more sense in his training himself in 18 months to be so good.

I would have liked them to spend more time on the training with Hurley like in the book. I loved in the book where Rapp gets the best of Hurley on the first day and Hurley has to cheat to win. Also would have liked to see the Victor character play out like in the book as an undercover recruit that Rapp takes out due to his sense of fair play or morals. It seemed a little far fetched to send him out a major do or die mission with so little training. But then again it would have probably bored people that weren't big fans of the books if it seemed to drag on a bit.

I didn't like the Iranian chick killing herself. Thought that felt forced and pointless. I guess it fell in line with her blowing her cover by shooting a dying man.

The nuclear explosion was pretty cool effects. I would think that tsunami would hit land and cause some major issues. I'm also guessing fishermen in the area are SOL for a century or so.

And I absolutely loved the ending with Rapp in the elevator with the general. When I saw that I was hoping they would just cut scene right when they did. Beautiful ending.

Sorry for the length. I love the books and the movie more or less lived up to expectations. I think there may have been one or two laughs in the whole movie as they kept it pretty serious and straightforward. I think that made it a better movie than if they tried to bring in comic relief. Looking forward to another installment.

i haven't seen it, but probably will with my FiL as we each alternate buying the new books and swapping. kind of a fun tradition.

i'm cool with them changing the start to make it a bit less dated as long as you keep the core foundation of Rapp's motives, cold demeaner in tact. Similar to how i feel about GoT vs the books.

i do remember when this was being floated a few years ago i thought that they would swap Irene out for a black lady, and it turns out they did. i don't care one iota, but it's funny how predictable Hollywood is.

how did Tim Riggins do? haha. I've always been a fan of Taylor Kitsch, but the roles he gets are always a bit lack luster for him. maybe he isn't as talented as I give him credit for. he is a pretty monotone actor which effects his range I suppose.

Looks like Kill Shot is in the works.

I'll be buying the new book in the next week or so. Can't believe I didn't preorder it. I usually do.
