Dunno about rookie, but your experience isn't the same as mine. So I figured I'd offer some helpful input.

No, you weren't. YT didn't exist back then.

pay YouTube to avoid the ads. I watch more YouTube than netflix and others so it's worth it to me.
No ad ever. Except for sponored Better Help or Surf shark ads everyone seems to push.

Which you can easily skip through, some channels even have a jump ahead function when an ad starts. I have seen an ad on YouTube in at least 3 years. Best $20 a month i spend on streaming

The fact that you see a bunch of AI shite.

I watch YouTube more than anything else and have for many years and I never get AI shite.

And I never have anything nice to say about SEK but I think he was just trying to help here. The algorithm is tailored to you, your problem is a you problem.

I watch more YouTube than anything else. When I'm doing almost anything it's playing in the background.
I have some French chick talking Michelin stars now.
I was watching Peacemaker and ww2 videos. My algorithm is all over. No ai though

I watched Bonanza a good bit when it was first aired and anytime they had a woman involved with ANY of the Cartwright men it would not end well for her.

If you haven’t found History Time on YouTube yet, you need to check him out.

Not AI. He has some videos that are 3 hours long. Some of the best history content I’ve ever seen and I’m a junkie.

His Sea Peoples and Mycenae videos are awesome.

Yep, Bonanza treated the women who got involved with the Cartwright's much like the first name only crewman of the U.S.S. Enterprise who beamed down to a planet with Kirk, Spock, McCoy and Sulu and didn't live long enough to make it back to the ship.

Noticed this feature finally came to AppleTV, where it will jump across commonly skipped sections.

There's also the SponsorBlock extension for desktops.

You won’t be disappointed.

His long form videos are some of the best history content I’ve seen anywhere.

His Mycenae video is over 6 hours.

If you really enjoy history- I can’t recommend Great Courses Plus enough.

It’s a little pricey, but the hours of lectures and the series are worth it.
Not just history, although that’s 90% of what I consume on there.

Get a free trial.

Anything from Vejas Gabriel Liulevicius is worth the time.
His “WW1” and “Utopia and Terror in the 20th Century” lectures are phenomenal.
