They're just the ones that outsiders here about. There are plenty of non-attention whoring celebrities who are constantly photographed.

idk i think it's gonna be a tough road for him in the business the way he's going, he'd been better of to do some more supporting roles till he got his cred up.

I'm sure he is not the first actor to just create a vehicle for his kids to jump right into showbiz
you're right, he's obviously not

I used to like Will Smith but ever since he has become the talent agent for his kids I just can't seem to stomach him or his kids.
but I know where you're coming from, I'm annoyed too... mostly because I don't find the kids talented or worth watching

As a father whos been a successful actor, you wouldn't want your kids to follow in your footsteps?
Good point.
I guess father and son stores all around America are shoving it down their local area's throats.
And every dad who helped his child get a job was out of line.
BTW - Pursuit of Happiness was awesome, and the kid was great in it. What's the beef?

The problem is that the kid didn't earn it imo. He probably didn't have to audition. He's obviously never had any kind of formal training or acting lessons. I think the Smith's are horrible parents in general. They let their son hang out with that douchebag Justin Bieber, which is weird b/c when I was 14 my parent certainly didn't want me hanging out with out of control 19 year olds who do drugs and act like shits.
Those kids are gonna be train wrecks in the future.
Good Hollywood parents try to keep their kids OUT of the spotlight as much as possible and try to steer them towards a good education and then, if they still want to, they can get into acting once their adults.
I'm glad Willow dropped out of Annie. That would have been a shitfest. If only Jaden would do the same.

This is a good point. Why the frick would anyone let their 14 year old hang out with this piece of trash. He's just starting his downward spiral, and if Will and Jada were actually intelligent, they would make sure those two were as far away as possible from one another.

Jaden kinda seems like an entitled punk (not that I can blame him really being raised by those two narcissists), but Willow just seems down right weird. Someone needs to tell their kids that hanging out with Justin Bieber at 14 and getting a fricking tongue piercing at 11 is not socially acceptable.

Exactly. They're not any more screwed on getting into the industry if they start at 18/22 than they would be if they started at 6. In fact, I'd say they'd be much less screwed, since child actors tend to get really fricked in the head in the process, while if you try to raise your kids away from that as much as possible, they tend to grow up normal. Child actors almost always have huge mental problems when they've grown up.

that's a lot of pressure to carry a movie, especially when your dad is attached and the movie looks like it sucks dick. he better not be reading the critics or he may just off himself.

Lot of hypocrites in this thread, you would all do the same thing for your kids if you had the chance

i would suggest my kid did some indi movies maybe some comedies not go full on into a full length feature film about surviving tigers and aliens that looks HORRIBLE, directed by a has been director. Will knows better than this.

I can say pretty safely knowing what I know about child actors, no I wouldn't. Cameo tops in some of my films, but not a major character. Once he's graduated high school, then yeah, we'd talk about it, but no way in hell before then.

to me it seems like he could basically pic any role he wanted just b/c of his name, so you'd think he'd be a little more selective.

Well, Will Smith supposedly came up with this story, so he just made up some stupid bullshite from his mind and needed a director desperate and dumb enough to make it. Enter Shyamalan.

even if this movie is a huge success, where do you go from here? he can't be an action star he's to young. he should have taken roles that are closer to his age.

If that is what his kids want to do, then why not use his pull to help his children succeed?
His son was fine in Karate Kid and Pursuit of Happyness.
If my kid one day wants to join a business and I have the ability to help him, I'm absolutely going to help him or her do that. Especially if it's a business that I've had major success with, as Will Smith has with entertainment.
You're probably right on this. Although, I would have to explain to my son though that he's not going to get, nor does he deserve the amount of respect a self made man is entitled to. Becoming successful with a safety net underneath you all the time doesn't equal the same sense of accomplishment. As far as child actors Patty Duke and John Astin seemed to go about it the right way with Sean Astin's child actor career.

Nepotism in Hollywood and Politics are neck and neck as far as which career abuses it more.
