Depending on who you ask, a lot of the deal with Snipes and Blade Trinity had to do with it being a contractually obligated sequel while he didn’t get his choice of director.
He started pulling a lot of bullshite as a result to where any scene that didn’t require him to be in shot used his stand in instead, which also expanded the roles for Jessica Biel and Ryan Reynolds.
The bit where Reynolds goes “He doesn’t like me, does he?” was about Snipes himself before they cut the scene but was kept because it fit the performance.

He had only been in 3 live action movies up to that point and only Animal House was a big success
He was arguably the hottest name in showbiz in 1979.Just came off the #1 movie,#1 Album and the highest rated late night show on TV.He was also the face that was used to promote the movie.
So yes,he could probably get almost anything he demanded for 1941 from Spielberg.

Apparently Gary Oldman during the filming of Dracula was shite faced most of the time

Phillip Seymour Hoffman was like life imitating art in his role in the movie "Before The Devil Knows You're Dead".
He played a junkie in the movie and then in real life he dies of a drug overdose.

Hell, I was just watching a documentary on Monty Python and it was widely discussed that if they wanted to get anything done with Graham Chapman they had to do it before noon (if they could at all) because he would get bombed on gin and/or vodka every day.
John Cleese once said he went to retrieve a script out of Chapman's briefcase on set (I think during Flying Circus), and there was a near-empty bottle of vodka in there. It was like 10am. He allegedly would polish off at least three bottles a day. Dude was a maniac.

Could have something to do with why he was the first to die, and to die so young. You can't abuse yourself like that forever.

He died of cancer, had several tumors removed before ultimately passing

Robert Shaw was drunk off his arse in the Indianapolis scene in "Jaws".
Partially true. He was too drunk to do most of the scene the first time they tried. He got mad at himself, went back to his trailer/apt he was staying in, sobered up and came back and did the scene again. The scene that made it into the film is a mix of when he was drunk and after he sobered up. When you watch the scene it's pretty easy to see when each is edited in and out.

He did quit drinking before Life of Brian and stayed sober the rest of his life (supposedly)
