I was not impressed with him in Salmon Fishing in the Yemen.
Blah performance in a blah movie.

Came here to say Hackman and Duvall.
I'd add Steve McQueen.

Hackman killed it in Welcome to Mooseport

Ed Harris is usually pretty solid.

I would love to agree but The Rite, The Wolfman and Misconduct all called.

I love Matthau, but this opinion is wrong.

Agreed, and their performance in The Fortune Cookie and The Odd Couple alone makes them the best comedy team in Hollywood imo.

Agree again. I was watching Scarecrow the other night which is basically a "road" movie with Al Pacino, and Hackman steals basically every scene in the movie from Pacino,...and I'm a huge Pacino fan.

Matthau was great and probably underrated, but it is easier, IMHO, to do what Walter Matthau did than what Lemmon did, on a role-by-role, picture-by-picture basis.

I’m struggling to think of a bad acting job Denzel Washington has ever had. Haven’t liked all his movies, but I’ve never seen him phone it in.
Likewise with Sean Connery, Steve McQueen, and Peter O’Toole.
And I’m very tempted to say Jeff Bridges, but Tron: Legacy gives me pause.
Pre-2000 I would’ve said Michael Douglas. His later stuff hasn’t been all that inspiring. Same with Harrison Ford.
