Christopher Abbott, who has played Marnie’s on-again, off-again boyfriend Charlie during the first two seasons of the HBO comedy, has abruptly left the show.

According to the New York Post, which broke the news, Abbott had been butting heads with leading lady/series creator Lena Dunham.

“They’ve just started work on Season 3, and Chris is at odds with Lena,” a source said. “He didn’t like the direction things are going in, which seems a bit odd since the show put him on the map.”

He allegedly hates Lena Dunham. He'd fit nicely in with the m/tv board in that regard.

With the way season two ended she's gonna have a real problem writing herself out of this spot. She can do it no problem, anyone could, but it's gonna feel forced and be unsatisfying.

He probably got tired off seeing Lena Dunham on the set with no clothes on.

I refuse to even watch one episode of that show due to that reason.

The finale was some awful, cliched POS too.

They'll probably just do a time jump or something where they've broken up.

seriously though for how "cool/hip" this show was labeled and how it was supposed to speak to/about a specific generation, season 2 just devolved into a bunch of repetition, culminating in complete cliche

this somewhat completely fricks marnie's storyline that culminated in the finale, too

What another poster said about doing a time jump to a point in the future where they've broken up is basically what I meant. Something really lame and dissatisfying like that. It's not hard, but it won't be GOOD.

well, charlie and marnie were the only couple I liked, so I guess that is one less reason for me to watch now.
