Watched 3 episodes last night. Awesome show. Wanted to keep going but as someone said, needed a break as it is heavy. Had to switch to some Office S2.

Fantastic show so far.

Great show once you ignore all of the extremely British accents in Soviet Ukraine, which for me took about 30 minutes

She never existed.
Docudramas do this regularly. It's to condense many characters into the show for narrative.

Takes nothing away from how really good it is as a mini-series.

But it's not a documentary. And it takes a mood to watch. At least for me.

Yeah apparently she was a composite of 3 people (all men btw).

It's a riveting show.

Reminded me of The People vs. OJ Simpson.

The show apparently doesn't pull any punches.

It certainly exposes the internal and external deceptions about communism and how it affects everyone involved.

We have plenty of this going on in our culture too now, on both sides of the political spectrum. It's like the truth has become irrelevant.

Be careful about making false equivalencies.

Excellent series. I read "Midnight in Chernobyl" right before watching the series. Highly recommend that book.

The Chernobyl Podcast is great as well. I listened to each one in between the episodes. The creator gets more into some the historical inaccuracies and why he made some of the choices he did.

I thought it was more like 10-15 people

Just watched the first episode last night. I think I was about 15 when this happened.

Incredible series but man does it leave you with a sense of dread and foreboding. Hard to watch that first episode and stomach how many people were unwittingly dooming themselves and others to not just death but agonizing death simply by being in the wrong city at the wrong time

Watched it this weekend.

Fantastic show, but extremely depressing.

I know this is an old thread, but wanted to jump in and say this is a top five (at worst) miniseries of all time. It's simply fantastic television. Anybody who hasn't seen it should remedy that immediately.

Never apologize for bumping a Chernobyl thread. Some lurker is putting it on their HBO Max watchlist because of your post.

I decided to search and bump instead of starting a new one. Wish the OT would do that more often.

The radiation poisoning scenes are absolutely brutal, particularly Vasily Ignatenko's final state before he passes. That scene will haunt me for a while. They almost did too good of a job. GREAT series otherwise. If the final scene between Shcherbina and Legasov doesn't move you, I am not sure what would.

That was pretty good. It got a bit redundant at times but that kind of went along with the gist of the show.

Enjoy! You're going to wish it was longer once you finish it.

Great show. If you enjoy reading, check out Midnight in Chernobyl. Incredible.
