Overall good flick

I knew the story arc, so I was prepared for it. My date ugly cried for the last 30-45 minutes. I held it together, though. The part that got me was when Sam Elliot dropped off Cooper at he and Gaga's house "in the woods" or whatever, and the little conversation they had before Elliot drove off. That look on Elliot's face was a gut punch. I wasn't expecting that.

The film is everything you expect it to be.

You won't be moved in a movie theater like that again in a long time. Gaga is good, Cooper totally steals the movie. If that's not Oscar winning performance by both he and Elliott, I don't know what is.

One small question, though.

So, was Cooper doing basically a Sam Elliot impression or a Kristofferson impression with his voice?

I think maybe a little in between.

He was doing a Sam Elliot impression. They are brothers in the movie. And also, one of them admitted as much in an interview.

That's all fine & dandy, but after years of Pokerface type-crap, it's perfectly reasonable that the general public can't see through the cheap branding and see a mature talent.

Of course, the reality is that she's very talented.

Wife and I saw it today. Great acting, good music, a little too predictable for me, but overall a good movie.

Film is estimated at $42 million for this weekend's box office. Someone else mentioned it wouldn't break $30 million... That was flat out wrong.

That figure is huge for an R-rated, old time drama. It helped set an October Box Office record this weekend along with Venom's $80 million.

BTW this is the 4th iteration of the film, dumbass.

I've been watching a lot of the press they did and Sam said Bradley was doing voice lessons for 2 months to pair with Sam's before he even approached him about doing the movie... and him going through that much effort is what made Sam want to do it.

Something I'm not sure I've ever seen done as good is how Bradley Cooper was able to use the camera to show so much emotion without having to rely on words to express them

My wife made me go with her

Damn glad I did - I thought the movie was excellent. Gaga did great and Cooper nailed his part.

When she first got on stage a damn shiver went down my spine.

And I damn near cried after the steak scene.

I am no movie expert but this will win many awards.

Thanks for making me remember that.

SPOILER ALERT:

The dog “Charlie” is actually Bradley Cooper’s dog. He should win a dog acting Oscar.

Him and his friends were a great part of the movie and brought some much needed light moments throughout.

As much as I like the closing song, looking back I wish they would have closed with Always Remember Us this Way.
