How convincing is Bradley Cooper as a musician/singer/songwriter? That could be my only hangup with this movie.

Well every trailer and that music video posted earlier is him playing and singing...I'd say he is pretty convincing

That was me until she did the Julie Andrews tribute at the Oscars

The Oscars tribute was phenomenal.

For me, it was her spot on Howard Stern several years ago that opened my eyes to more of her natural talents.

There are definitely glimpses into her talents in her music from her pop hits and such, but I fully jumped on board the Gaga wagon after seeing this clip.

Gaga Singing on Howard Stern

So ready for this movie.

We have tickets for tomorrow night. They have a "Fan Event" screening tonight at the AMC O'Neal, but it's not allowed as a free "A List" movie.

Cooper is the true star of this movie. Gaga is great, and is getting most of the praise, but he is out of his mind in this movie acting wise. Its very nuanced playing a functioning alcoholic, so its not going to just jump off the screen at you, but I couldnt take my eyes off him.

His direction is another thing. The shots are perfect and gorgeous, and I dont think there is one wasted shot. He came out and gave a masterpiece on his first try.

And there's a great shot of Cooper in the audience watching Gaga perform.

To be fair, Cooper had an elite level cinematographer on the project who was probably setting up and filming most of the shots.

Matthew Libatique is an Oscar winning DP who shot Black Swan (which he won the Oscar, I believe) and most of Aranofsky's films, including one of the more mesmerizing movies you'll ever see in The Fountain.

Cooper is no dummy... He knew this was his big shot and he hired literally one of the 5 or 7 best DPs in the world.

I do, though, think the shot where Cooper is in the bushes, talking to Chappelle (at least from the previews) is almost blown out. The greens are too neon and the sky is overexposed (but now I'm getting Into super film/photography nerd territory an will let it go).

The rest of the shots from the previews look incredible. You can tell they wanted to capture that "live music" feel and it look slime they did.

Just got back from seeing it.

My God almighty. It lives up to every review out there. Just a masterpiece IMO. Bradley Cooper was so fricking good I genuinely thought he was drunk filming all his scenes. It was fantastic. Seeing his character arc was something else I'll tell you. Easy Oscar nom and possible win.

Gaga legit had me praising God during a very important scene where she sings. I'm not on some movie high or some shite but her vocals in this said scene was some of the best I have ever heard. Said scene will win her a best original song Oscar and even Grammy. No exaggeration. So fricking talented. Just wow. Was great as an actress too. We even get 2 nipples from her during this thing. Made me appreciate the performance even more.

The movie was extremely hard to watch in the sense that you knew exactly would happen but couldn't turn away. That is a compliment to just how convincing the cast was and just how well directed this thing was. Good stuff man.

I'm shite at predictions but watch out come Oscar time. This thing is getting nominated for Best Director, Best Picture, Best Original Song, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Adapted Screenplay, and whatever other sound and music related categories.

frick the Oscar's though, this was just a great movie through and through.

Get hype cuz it will live up to expectations. 5 out of 5 stars IMO so don't shite on me if you don't like it

P.S. Watch this in a theater with great sound. Didn't think anything of seeing it in the Dolby Cinema at first but that literally changed in the first 2 seconds of the movie. Watch it in Dolby if you have an AMC near you. Worth every damn penny.

Cooper has said in interviews that the sound was designed specifically for Dolby theaters.
