So one line 30 minutes into the movie where he is hella excited to be going home for the first time in years, followed by him screaming her name:

1. So he can direct her to the room he’s handcuffed in.

2. Because he’s angry at her for jumping out of the lifeboat.

3. Because he’s panicked as both Rose and him are flowing down a corridor as water quickly fills it up.

For the vast majority of the movie, he’s very soft-spoken and subdued.

One of the most famous lines in movie history is him standing an inch away from death while literally screaming I'm The King Of The World. Except for maybe the dinner scene his entire performance made me think if only I had some of that coke. He became a fantastic actor later, but his whole thing when he was young was be the loudest and proudest in the room. He didn't learn how to play subdued instead of Zack Morris until probably Gangs of New York

Must defend my opinion against another opinion.

I feel like you wrote Titanic, or gave birth to it.

Yes, the script and love story was slightly cheesy, but IMO, it's one of the absolute pinnacles of filmmaking.

Cameron absolutely nailed every aspect of the movie, which is evidenced by its success (both critical and financial) and lasting impact on pop culture.

It stands alone as a modern epic.

There will never be anything like. It was still selling out 4-5 months after release. Woman were obsessed with it. You were easily getting laid after taking a girl to see it

Probably what contemporaries said about Gone With the Wind.

quote:

From December 1939 to July 1940, the film played only advance-ticket road show engagements at a limited number of theaters at prices upwards of $1—more than double the price of a regular first-run feature.

It then ran in general release in 1941 , the was re-released in 1942, then in ''47, '52 , '71 , '74 and '89.

You're right.

My wife and I went to see it. We had a 1 year old so we hadn't been out much if any.

I thought the movie was a bit over the top. I don't care for movies like that, but my wife loved it. She was all over me after we got home & banged my brains out.

Idk what it is about this movie.

Nah, it won Kids Choice because 10-16 (probably goes older than that) year old girls were obsessed with Leo. Girls in my school were talking about having seen that movie 20 times in theater. And we were 11 at the time.

There’s a cemetery in Nova Scotia with the bodies of people who washed ashore after the disaster. There’s a “J Dawson” buried in that cemetery (as near as anyone can tell, he was a member of the crew, possibly a collier). At the time of the movie, that grave was absolutely buried in flowers placed there by young girls.
