Either way is no good for Dottie. Either she threw a game or she the best player in the league got punked by a pitcher at the plate

I've posted lists of characters I wanted to see more of before. Jon Lovitz's character owns the entire first 20 minutes of the movie. I hate that he is gone so quickly. But maybe that's why I love him so much.

I watched this last night on AMC after Caddyshack's showing. I was disappointed that it didn't have notes in it like Caddyshack.

One of my favorite Hanks roles.

i agree...it makes it worse that Kit was so unlikeable in the movie.

She dropped it on purpose. She got Kit off the farm with her talent. Dottie kept her in the league with her talent. Therefore Dottie dropped the ball to keep Kit in the league for the next season and Dottie went home where she wanted to be. End of story...

Love that line.

Im torn on the Dottie thing. Kitt did throw her shoulder right at the midsection. Might have stunned her. My wife thinks it was on purpose.

My question is why during the swing away, squeeze debate between Dugan and Dottie why was Marla batting right handed against a right handed pitcher? She had shown in tryouts that she was a beast from the left side of the plate.

damn. I almost forgot to mention Lovitz...he was great too.

...I just watched it too. I got a pretty good laugh when he was leaving and he said, "I hate when they get attached to me like that."

can't say enough about Hanks. He was great from beginning to end in this. made the movie imo.

Didnt hurt her rep at all. Even at the reunion she was well known as the leagues best player even though she only played one season.

Cause it was women sports. She was a choking dog either way IMO

i'll be in the minority here and say she didn't drop it on purpose.

why on earth would she go up to the pitcher and say give her high fast balls she can't hit them.

she also played her best at the plate. she did everything in her power to defeat that other team.

she just doesn't strike me as a person to let her entire team down like that just so her sister could have some glory..

that is beyond fricked up to come all the back just to frick over your team.. altho they wouldn't even have been in it if not for her most likely..

watch the entire scene play out. her facial expressions look like she is stunned she is coming home and then she immediately prepares for the play. her sister came in hard.. and then her reaction after the play is over is very telling. she looks at her sister with a smile as if she has nothing to hide and genuinely felt happy for her because she earned it. not because it was given to her. i know dottie did not love baseball, but she just wouldn't throw a game. kit wanted it way more.

maybe...but at the same time, what would kit think dottie was saying? twice in the movie they had the exchange about laying off the high ones. Kit could have very reasonably expected Dottie to be saying throw high fastballs to the pitcher. and Dottie could have very reasonably suspected that kit would know this.

so i would argue that dottie going to the mound made the at bat even easier for kit.

Easy one. The camera shot of her at the plate.

Watched this last night. Also never noticed that the first baseman from the Racine team was Tea Leoni.

She clearly didn't care that much about the team if she willingly missed the 1st 6 games of the world series.

good point...it sure did take her a long time to change her mind and get back to her team. What if the series had ended in 6 games? movie over.
