They’re too stupid to even realize the corners they back themselves into with this crap. Knowing them they saw he had “Brown” as part of his name so they went with that.

I do get why it rubbed some the wrong way but I don't think the Valyrians being black affected the story very much.

There's part of me that also thinks it was done to make the calling out of her kids as bastards very, very obvious (and unable to follow the Valyrian's line) because people are stupid. And there's been a huge move to "dumb down" things for the general viewer. That's a good way of doing it.

As long as the show writers stay true to the brown shield being a scumbag, the color of his skin doesn't matter all that mutch. Would I prefer them to cast an actor that aligns with my mental image that was cretaed by the book? Absolutely. BUT the real issue only comes if they decide that making a black actor portray a scumbag would be morally wrong so they change the story to make him a noble knight.

FWIW, the actor played a cyborg on Alien:Earth that was definitely an antagonist (Babou Ceesay/Kumi Morrow). He could be menacing and did some definite dirty shite in his role. So I don't think his ability as an actor will prevent him being able to portray the role he has been cast in for AKOTSK.

Knowing his portrayal in that, I think they likely intend to still portray the character as he was written. That's just my thought.

We got 3 in Total Recall and I'm OK with that.

so without spoilers the character that the black guy will play is the villain? LOL

but that seems like it’s a minor issue black guys are villains all the time, or they used to be anyway. Far more ridiculous was the valeryions in the dragon show that was just comical with those stupid wigs the fact that in the game of thrones show they literally don’t exist onscreen and nobody has mixed race features except those from the east. Which begs the question if they wanted to race swap why not make the valeryions “Arab”? That would fit more logically with everything else we were shown

Instead we got west African in blonde cornrows

I agree that is a MAJOR problem. Catering to the lowest common denominator produces only crap.
