I seem to recall they have discussed John Belushi, John Candy, John Goodman, John McConnell, Chris Farley and Will Ferrell as possible candidates to play Ignatius over the years.

I can't imagine who would be a good IJR.
i'm scared they'd cast this guy:

And the actor with the most talent to pull it off.

slated to be directed by David Gordon Green
I had a conversation with Green about the project a few years ago when he was in town. He was kind of bummed that it wasn't making progress, and he seemed to think it was dead. By the way, I have no idea what the article is referring to as far as the head of the La. Film Commission being murdered. That's not even the right title for the position, and they just end up getting indicted instead.

I said this previously but Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons would be the perfect Ignatius.

Paul Giammati might could pull it off, too

I would be worried about some cornball director coming into New Orleans and making it a slapstick piece of shite. I close my eyes and picture Will Ferrell in a fat suit screaming because he has a parrot on his head and it makes me cringe.
I'd really like to see Soderbergh try to pull it off. The man can direct, and he's from South Louisiana. Let's make this happen.
