Probably my favorite documentary on 9/11. Would highly recommend to anyone who has time today to give a watch. Basically they try to figure out the identity of the man in this picture which some ppl consider one of the most controversial pics of the entire event
On YouTube for free as well

Never seen this. But on the topic of 9/11 related docs, I would recommend "The Woman Who Wasn't There".
It's about this woman, who became a leader amongst the community of survivors and those who lost friends/family in 9/11. Except all the details of her experience were completely made up. It's very interesting and shocking.

I can't imagine what was going through his (and others) heads at that moment. You're 100 stories high and burning up and have no other option.
The sickening, disgusting feeling I have trouble shaking is that it was probably a regular Tuesday for those folks. Wake up, read the paper, eat some breakfast and have some coffee, drop the kids off at school and head to the office. A few short hours later and you're in the most difficult predicament imaginable. I'm not sure if predicament is even the right word. It's a lose-lose situation. God be with those people and their families.

"It was not a street anymore but a world, a time and space of falling ash and near night."

In all likelihood he reached a full acceptance of his fate before jumping and was at peace with himself. Or at least that's what I hope for him.

Bump for today
Only watch it once a year. Best 9/11 doc besides 102 Minutes That Changed America

It always stuck with me how peaceful the guy looks just floating there. Makes me cringe knowing the kind of hell you have to see to make jumping out of a 100 story building peaceful.

I can't recall a more difficult image to look at, than that man falling to his death. He was thrown into a terrible situation. May he continue to Rest In Peace.

In the documentary those two French brothers made when they were attached to the fire department, they talk about how one of the firefighters was on top of the Marriott hotel next to the towers and it was "raining bodies" and that there were body parts all over the roof of the hotel.

I remember hearing the rumor when I was a kid at the time that when this happened, they passed out before hitting the ground.
Now I realize I know nothing that supports that. I sure hope its true though

A great doc. They just happened to be filming when that occurred. You can hear the roar of the plane engines bounce off the buildings as it comes in then the camera looks up right as the plane crashes into the building.
Then they're in the bottom floor of the WTC and you can hear thuds crashing on the roof - presumed to be bodies...then when the WTC falls and all those emergency alarms go off on the firefighters' suits.

I actually had a chance to go to NYC a few months ago and when to the memorial/museum. There's a bit in there about the people that jumped off and one observer noted how one woman stood up, straightened her skirt, and then jumped, and the observer thought "...how human."
That just kind of struck me, to take the time to do something like straightening your skirt or tightening a tie before you do something like that.

I was at the 911 Memorial this summer. The section/area on those that jumped definitely hit me the hardest. There was a story of a women who walked to the edge, fixed her hair and made sure to hold down her skirt tail when she jumped. The humanity of that got to me. One her final thoughts was to make sure to hold her skirt and fix her hair.

Damn, that would stick with me too. Who is telling this story and how did they make it out? I haven't been to NYC since my dad lived there for a year in '96, I need to go and the 9/11 Memorial would be tops on my list

There is a ton of photos with audio and also photos with captions etc. This was being told by an observer at the street via a short movie in that area. The Memorial is awesome and very well done. But it is heavy AF.

102 Minutes is incredible every year I watch it.
So real seeing these people film all this on fricking cam corders. That's what makes 9/11 even more weird looking back. It was right before the age of instant information and everyone having internet access on their cell phones. shite most people weren't even texting back then.
Seeing all the people jumping from the towers is sickening. I don't think people want to know the true number of people who jumped that day. Definitely in the hundreds.

Also while one of them was filming in the tower, he said 2 people were on fire and he wouldn’t film that. I can’t even imagine. Just seeing them recall the day is horrific. The terror and look in their eyes all those years later while taking about it is sad as hell.

Go to the Memorial. It is eye opening. And very well done.

Officially none of them jumped. All the deaths were ruled homicides and the victims fell.
